SCHOOL BUS

Post by Loftbed » Mon Jul 22, 2019 4:10 pm

I went to the "The Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance" this past weekend and this car was there (listed as a 1919 School Bus). I found it interesting and thought maybe you guys would as well. The owner (fellow with the hat in first photo) started it up and it ran strong). No other info as I didn't get a chance to talk to him.

This is a picture of my grandfather with his school bus and some of the children on his route near Arcadia, LA. My mother and her brother and sisters are all in the picture (I believe). I will be chastised for not remembering which one she is.

I know there is not much of the school bus showing, but do you know what year this would be?

Thanks

Most likely a 1923 or later.

That photo of the school bus is awesome! Can you get more information? I'm surprised it survived so many years.

Sorry, but I didn't get the fellows name or contact info. I was hoping some on this forum might know a bit more. I'll look in the "program" to see if there is any more info.

It has to be a '24 or later Ford steel C-Cab Screen Sided Express - I have nearly the twin to it that my Gramps purchased new in Seattle in 1924 except ours no longer has the screen sides.

I was commenting on James' photo above - not the O.P.'s photo.

The bus in the first two photos posted by Ron look like a TT. The radiator apron is consistent with the idea that it's a 1919. Hard to tell much more. Of course the bus body is after market, not Ford.

The bus is owned by the Northwest Vintage Car and Motorcycle Museum, which is located within Powerland north of Salem, Oregon. See page 4 in the following newsletter: http://nwcarandcycle.com/html/NVCMM-Mes ... v16-i4.pdf

What a fantastic bus ! I would have loved to have a closer look, it has very intriguing window mechanisms..
Thanks for the pics, more info would have been great, but you can't have it all can you... ;)
When in trouble, do not fear, blame the second engineer ! 8-)

I have seen a 1919 T school bus up here in the Rochester, NY area a few times at local shows.
