TT prices
I decided to do some research on TT prices... Here is what I found:
MTFCA Forum
$12,000 asking 6/26/19 RHD Model TT wood cab parade truck https://www.mtfca.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4795

Okay so out of the nine that I found:
4 sold for $5000 or less
3 are dump trucks
Nicer TTs don't seem to sell over $5K...
As you may be wondering... I am thinking of a TT... And perhaps a dump truck. The price is about what I expected, but surprised to see how many dump trucks are out there.
I would love to hear other peoples thoughts.

Re: TT prices
As far as TT's go, in it's stock form, it is kind of a limited vehicle in reference to the speed. Like most old trucks, they just don't go fast due to the gearing--as I said, in it's stock form...which most are. They are a little bigger, so then it might become a storage problem also.
However, my personal opinion on T's in general is that we are going into a dip in prices. We have the next generation of elders (baby boomers) that have hoarded parts and cars that might have been influenced by their fathers, uncles, grandparents. As they get older and pass, those stashes of parts and cars are beginning to flood the market. And lets face it, this is a limited market for these types of cars. I have watched ads and local sales and buys for a couple of years now, and while there are exceptions, most of the prices (of used parts and cars) seem to be dropping a little when they finally sell (although I always seem to pay more when I need it).
As far as prewar antique cars go, this is still the most affordable car to buy and restore or fix up, with in my opinion the most support currently by vendors and hobbyist alike. But it's not for everyone which helps keep a lower ceiling on the prices.
And like most old cars, the attractive low cost initial purchase price, often leads to restoring it for more than it's worth. You can ask what you want all day long, but until someone hands over the cash, it's not really worth anything.
After my experience with my T, I will always recommend that someone buy the best car they can afford. Alot of older nicer restorations are starting to hit the market, and for less or not more what I have into mine that I bought 15 years ago. I wish I held out a little bit before jumping in, but I will continue to fix up my beloved Canadian cut off touring because most importantly, it pleases me.

Matt, figure this in: Sold for $25,000. It all depends where you advertise. Chad, your post is about the best description of overall value that I’ve ever read. Thanks for sharing.

Re: TT prices
Mein Gott! Twenty-five grand? Granted, it's very nicely done, but that's an incredible price for a TT. The seller didn't just advertise in the right place, he got very lucky in who saw the ad.

Re: TT prices
My opinion, is find one of those nice ones for $5k and buy it if that's what you want. Don't buy a project that is missing parts or non-running. You'll spend way over that in hunting and collecting parts to build it.
Also add, there are a few in my area for sale. One 1919-1920 nice older restoration that was running for $10k, also a couple on FB Marketplace in my area.
This 1921 one comes up in Phillipi, WV for $8000 and has been in storage for the last 60 years. Nice older looking Wooden Cab This one comes up in German, PA for $9500. Rocky MTN Brakes and 4 spd auxiliary trans.

Re: TT prices
So, who is the arbiter of price Steve? You? Me? ... neither. It’s Supply and Demand. Perhaps the purchaser of the $25K TT was the Ford dealership owner who sold me a $54K 2019 F 250. Perhaps he is more appreciative than our Classified readers of high speed worm and ring gear, cast iron Warford, Ruckstell, RM brakes and a really, really nice restoration of a C Cab. Price is relative to those with money.

Re: TT prices
To buy and drive a TT takes a person that loves life in the slow lane. Not really, my TT runs about the speed of my stock roadster. Chicago 3 speed and high speed gears in rear make it a great driver. If a guy pays to have everything done, the 25 g's is probably about right. 8-10 is a bit high for unrestored barn find. I think it was said, its worth what someone will pay. I get asked all the time what my TT is worth. I have no clue, and finding someone who loves it for the fact that Martin Parry cab was built in Indiana and the crazy 8in1 bed would be tuff to find. Im not exactly sure what I have in it. Part of that is by design, no evidents!!!
I am a truck guy so its an easy choice for me. The fact it has seating in the bed is great to take family and friends for a ride also

Re: TT prices
If you buy a T or TT for investment purposes, you ain’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. ( it’s sure OK to tell the wifey that, though ) If Dallas, myself and many others asked just a dollar an hour for what we have in it, nobody could afford it and you’d get laughed off the car lot. You have to keep these things for the crazy love of them.
I’ve seen a so so TT towtruck fetch $25k.......I’ve seen a so so T hack with a brand new oak body and aluminum hardware sell for $20K........sure, lightening strikes every so often, but doubt I’ll ever get hit. Maybe I’ll get a big enough hole to just drive my TT in.

It takes a tall enclosed trailer to haul a TT Truck.
I can’t speak to purchase price - but many TT Trucks are at at considerable distance from prospective Buyers in
areas that are off the beaten path ...
Just loaded up in Bartersville, Oklahoma ....

Re: TT prices
Thanks! I love MTFCA. I appreciate everyone's insight! (I never feel like everyone has to agree, just freely share our thoughts in an agreeable way.)
I feel like prices for Ts really havn't changed much in the last 10 years since I got in the hobby. Perhaps a little up and down.
Wow! $25K for a TT. Tough I know people are correct about cost of rebuilding, I would rather have a small lot of TTs than one for $25K. The only issue is I don't have a small lot... Or much space for even one TT.
Here is My Journey... I liked the look of C-cabs. But then didn't want just to have two seats on my first T, so I got a Touring. I like it. I then acquired a TT dump bed a year and a half ago: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/82 ... 1517025292
The dump bet is PTO driven so I got a Warford transmission and a PTO. My thought was the TT project could be complete in 10 years as I get pieces together. But recently I thought maybe sooner...

TT Height
As I move forward with the TT I have two questions related to a comment above:
What is the height of a Ford C-Cab TT?
What is the height of a Ford Closed Cab TT?
Thanks! This will help me plan as I move forward.

Varies
Height varies between vehicles.
There is no “ standard “.
Most do not exceed 8 feet in height.

I have transported over 300 Model T vehicles.
At least 30 of those are T and TT Trucks.
Experience has taught me .....
Never assume - measure.

Re: TT prices
George and Jim,
Thanks for your help!!! I can see why TT are not for everyone.
I measured my garage. It is 82 inches (6' 10"). I thought that would be enough. I will have to see what I end up with in regard to a TT. I was looking into how to raise the clearance of the door. That looks like too much work, so I am thinking that I will cut and remove the concrete from the floor. That way I can just keep digging down until I get it right.

Use wheel skates
Just ask a Seller to measure a TT you might consider buying.
You probably will have demountable wheels.
Removing the front ones & putting the front axle on wheel skates is the cheapest thing to do - if that doesn’t lower it enough - do the same thing on the rear wheels.

Re: TT prices
We built our TT because you rarely see them at shows in Oregon. We went a different route than most in building a tow truck. The height issue is real. My TT needs 8'6" of clearance. The cab itself is about 7'10". I'm running 700 tires on the rear so that adds a little bit of height.
If you plan on trying to drive with a club auxiliary trans are a must. Stock you are looking at under 30 mph.
I have a 2 speed rear end, 3 speed drive line trans and warford 3 speed on mine.
Be sure to research the ring gears. You want to track down the high speed ones, or buy the new version.
The trucks are fun. People can't stop telling me how they have never seen anything like it. The trucks are well worth the extra hassle.

Re: TT prices
The seller of the $25,000 TT Truck hit the jackpot for his TT! The buyer of the truck must have thought because it was old it has to be worth it. He evidently didn’t do his research or if it sold at an auction there must have been a bumper in the crowd. Plus a 10% buyers premium if that was the case. It goes to show if you want something bad enough you’ll buy it. Maybe the owner paid outright to have the restoration work done. Probably had around 8-10 thousand in it. It probably is a good truck and reliable.

Re: TT prices
Forest, I really like your T. Did you make your bed?
I like the ideas of letting air out/removing tires... But that would likely mean I wouldn't drive it much.
It looks like the former owner of Henry Petrino's TT had the same problem with height and solved it! This was posted here: https://www.mtfca.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5632

Re: TT prices
The bed is an original Holmes bed. We had to reskin one side.
I think that is one chop top I could get behind.. With a c cab you could just unbolt the top,

Re: TT prices
I decided to buy a TT chassis:
It also has a red hot started: Of it was up to me I wouldn’t have got it with paint, but my daughter likes it.
The rear end: The bonus was that it came with an extra rear axle that included Rocky Mountain breaks, a universal transmission, an extra set of tires and a bunch of odds and ends. Also the seller agreed to deliver it (six hour total driving on his part).

Besides the purple engine it has some other features, including a distributor:
Any guesses on the carburetor? The seller likes to play with antique engines. He said it costed $30.It also has a red hot started: Of it was up to me I wouldn’t have got it with paint, but my daughter likes it.

Re: TT prices
Life is short, even when you live a long life. I saw a few guys in AFG go home in boxes.
Just lost my 12-year-old niece to cancer. I always wanted a TT truck, but it took a chopper
crash to put a boot up my ass to quit putting it off. You never know when your time is up,
and my philosophy is to enjoy life before it is taken away. I paid $1000 for this:
and a few months later paid 8x that amount for this:
The idea was to spare my wife having yet another project vehicle. I've since spent
about half that much again fixing and rebuilding it.
Everyone has their stim. Some like to spend their dough at the bar. Others on the
golf course, or the race track, or .... TT's are cheap fun, if that is what fun looks like
to a person. Don't think so, try boat ownership ! What it really expensive is dying without
ever really living. A lot of people do it and never realize their ship sailed without them.
Enjoy that TT, even if the engine is purple !

Brent,
I like both of your trucks! I do know what you mean about projects and having time to spend with family. But I love rust so your $1000 truck would be more attractive to me:)
Arthur thanks for posting that truck!

I too would prefer a more patinaed rust/paint finish, and through use, it is slowly
working its way closer to that end. As it sits, the shiny black is deceiving. There are
LOTS of scrapes and dings all over it. But that "barn fresh" look is my favorite too.
