Elfe cyclecar from the 1920s

Post by John E. Guitar » Sun Jul 28, 2019 6:41 am

I saw this interesting Elfe cyclecar at a car event in Rambouillet, France a year or so back.

It’s a fairly authentic recreation of the car in the old photo. The original was built by Eugene Mauve, creator of the Bol d'Or cyclecar/motorcycle race, which is still being run and will be held this September.

The owner told me he thinks it will do 110km/h although the steering setup looks a bit hairy for that kind of speed.

What a great car. It looks like you could make one from an erector set.

I'm thinking you don't want to lean back in the seat !! 🔥

I would like to know more about the engine...
In the old picture it has a little cooling fan beside the engine. :)

The powerplant is an 1100 cc Anzani 20° Vee Twin.

The owner has a museum near Chartres - Musée Ateliers des Pionniers:
