spindle
Found a spindle the other day. It does not have any markings other than this forging mark. Does anyone know this mark, and was this made for Ford ?

Re: spindle
If you turn the picture over the forging mark looks like a "C" over an "H", the symbol for Cleveland Hardware. They made lots of parts for Ford, including crankshafts. Their crankshafts were of the earlier, diamond shaped ones. My experience is that they were very weak. I broke one of them and would never use one of theirs again, nor any other diamond shaped crankshaft for that matter. Just my humble opinion.

That’s a pretty broad brush you are painting with, Keith.

Re: spindle
Hi Tim, Yes I know that. It's based not only on my experience but that of other respected Model T'ers also. That's why I posted it as just my humble opinion.
Best wishes,

Re: spindle
That is an opinion for cranks breaking made by Cleveland Hardware and other diamond cranks in general breaking made by other companies, not on spindles made by Cleveland Hardware. The question might be; does anyone know of any spindles made by Cleveland Hardware breaking, if it were being asked. While diamond cranks esp are known to break and is a good point, it's not what the poster was asking.
To be sure it is Ford post a full photo of it. Some companies made parts for more then one brand of car.

I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Re: spindle
Yes it is a" Ford " spindle. I have a pair. Right & Left with this forging mark. I just was wondering if they were Ford parts. It looks like they are, just made before everything had Ford marked on it. Thanks for the info guys!
