Re: Pick up HCCT in Roseville Ca I live in Nampa Id
For Jim and others who have not been up close and personal with a Hand Cranked Coil Tester, they are heavy, top heavy, and unwieldy things. While there are several different styles regarding meter(s) and location of the coil receptacle, they all weigh about 100 pounds.
They are a challenge to pick up because the largest part to grab is the flywheel with its magnets and that turns. If you get your fingers pinched between the slowly rotating flywheel and the coil ring as the heavy beast swings when you pick it up, you yelp and drop it. It falls to the floor landing on one of your feet, breaking toes while the HCCT itself breaks. You hop around on one foot, trip over the now smashed HCCT and fall to the floor.
As I recall, when Ron Patterson would sell one, he would not ship it and required that you pick it up or make arrangements for some sort of "bucket brigade" to get it to you. I'm guessing that Joe is attempting to do this. So, can we help him out? I'm a bit out of the way.

Bill is correct, I'm trying to arrange direct Pickup and transportation as the current owner will not ship. I haven't purchased it as yet, trying to resolve transportation prior to agreeing to purchase.
Thanks in advance

They break down to more manageable parts pretty easily, and with much
less risk for damage when handling/shipping.

More people are doing it today than ever before !

I fully understand not wanting to ship. I did however did at one time suggest to remove the flywheel/magnets and coil ring to someone. They are off the shelf parts and I think some were sold that way.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Joe
Be sure the AC Ammeter is removed and carefully packed in a high density Styrofoam padded box for shipping!!
The meter is the most costly part of a HCCT to replace if damaged and the easiest part to damage if not very carefully handled.

Great! While you are waiting for it you could get the magnets charged and doctor up a coil ring.
