1850s Micro-photographs

Post by Mark Osterman » Wed Nov 27, 2019 6:20 pm

Maybe someone on this list interested in these. I’m prepping for a workshop in making micro-photographs next week. These were popular from 1851-1890s. They are made by using a microscope as a camera to hold a microscope slide sensitized with silver iodized collodion.

I collect Edison Kinetoscopes and films. The size reminds me of the home Kinetoscope film which is 22mm but with three separate images about 6mm each.

The size of this image is actually 2 mm x 2 1/2 mm. Pretty small. And it one of the largest ones we make.

Mark, email sent, nothing to do with these though. Totally different question. Dave
