not model T Continental engine
I'm working on a late 1920's "Reiland and Bree" truck with a Continental OHV six engine that is missing its intake manifold. Any ideas where I can find one?

Re: not model T Continental engine
Continental made mostly industrial engines, so perhaps you could find something from the industrial engine parts houses. I used Foley Industrial Engine years ago for a camshaft. It was expensive but beggars can't be choosers...I think they are still in business....

Re: not model T Continental engine
Continental made engines for a number of different makes of cars. I believe a Jordan is one of them.

They made engines for cars, trucks, airplanes, industrial, farm machinery, and army tanks.

This Hemmings article lists many vehicles that used continental engines:

When did I do that?

We’re also used in the marine industry all the way up into the early 1960’s. The parts did not change much at all if any.
Hope this Helps

Re: not model T Continental engine
They're still alive as Continental Aerospace Technologies, a *lot* of private aircraft run Continental engines... Also, they still make both air-cooled (inder the "Wisconsin" brand) and liquid cooled industrial motors. Back then they built engines for a bunch of different makes...
May not help a *lot* but you might be able to start chasing it down...

In my youth I had a Marion Handley rolling chaise that had Continental Red Seal. Placing a cup of water on the running engine, it barely made ripples.

Try the multi-cylinder forum after clicking on the XenForo Antique Engine Forums over at smokstak.com if you don't find one. Someone might be able to help over there.
Ooh, looks like a Purolater full flow oil filter on that engine. What year is that image from Martin?
MS&M's Twin City tractors implemented the full flow Purolater in the late 20's and always looking for more filter info.

Re: not model T Continental engine
Not sure of the year of the image, it was in a brochure advertised on e-bay but someone beat me to it. Continental R-series engines were introduced in 1928, that may be the date of the brochure. Thanks for mentioning smokestack.com I'll try it.

Re: not model T Continental engine
Thank you sir.
Martin, would you help me some more?
Are the Continental engines outfitted with Purolater filter assemblies that look like this?
If Purolaters: Are your oil filters round cast bases or flat sided bases?
I know, I know: Who the heXX is wanting info about that trivial matter?
Oh! Do you have any evidence of a Purolater transfer/decal on that oil filter can (canister)?
Means the world to me for the early production Twin City tractor engine I'm working on.
Thank you.

The Continental brochure shows the same filter you posted, but the engine I'm working on has a different style. I will look more closely to see if there's a label on the filter next time I'm working on it.

Duey,
Sorry, but the decal on the oil filter is completely illegible.

My '52 Massey Harris Pony tractor uses a Continental 4 cyl engine.
