1927 Ford Model T Speedster armadillo body OK USA $14,000 OBO

Post by celbii » Sat Dec 07, 2019 3:26 pm

Hello,
We have for sale our 1927 Ford Model T speedster. This Model T was acquired by my grandfather who passed away last year, in march of 2005 and has been with us ever since. we have recently done a fresh oil change, New starter solenoid, cleaned gas with a new fuel filter, and flushed the radiator so she is ready to go for her new owner. We have had this car on display in our shop for the last 14 years but we are downsizing some of our vehicles so its time for her to find a new owner to show her some love and care. Runs and drives but could use a little touch of TLC to get her to 100%. Armadillo speedster body kit from Oregon. Ruckstell rear end. It has a battery kill switch and battery located under the seat as picture as my grandfather always had plans to race it but that never came to fruition.

We are located in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA. I am happy to work with anyone who needs to ship it in the USA or around the world. My grandfather paid $13,800 for the vehicle back in 2005 and we are just looking to recoup around there as far as the sale price goes. So I will list price as 14k OBO. To be truthful we are more interested in seeing it goto a good home than trying to get top dollar.

Any questions please ask, though I will be upfront that I am not very knowledgeable on this vehicle nor model T's in general. My father can give some more details but he is not 100% on everything that has been done to it before we purchased it as well. I believe it was restored by a father and son team in the 80's or early 90's.

Thanks,
David

Engine sounds a bit rough, could be exhaust leak? Anyone have any other thoughts?

Thanks Jim!

Hey Rod, I don't disagree with you there but at the same time I have nothing to add diagnostic-wise. According to my father when we first fired her up this year and I commented on that he said that it has sounded like that all 14 years we have owned it and before, and he just considered it normal to the car. Its been driven around like that without giving any issues thus far so I don't know how much of a concern it really is nor do I know exactly how model T's sound when they are running typically. Wish I could offer some more insight.

David

I think it may sound normal for a engine with a high compression head and a performance cam. Engine lopes when Idling and smooths out when You nail it. May also have a little valve clatter and may run smoother with high octane fuel ? I remember the pre computer high compression. high performance engines of the sixties required it or the valve clatter was bad. Looks like a sweet ride.

Thats a sound theory on it as well.

I just wanted to update this thread that with a deposit I am marking the car as pending for sale to a good gentleman over in the UK. Thanks everyone for the interest and reaching out.

Was it the Armadillo that had the car number cast in the underside of the gas cap?
Does anyone remember how many body's were made. I knew some of this stuff when I worked on one that sold at Barrett Jackson a few years back and posted a picture on the old forum.
Good Luck with your sale!
