Forum and Site problems Thursday Jan 31
We know about the issues. I’ve been on the phone with our hosting provider tech support for several hours today.
Together we made some substantial changes to the software to try and eliminate the problems we’ve been having. I think we made progress. Only time will tell.
Thanks for your patience. I’m as frustrated as everyone is - I’m the one who has to put up with the bozos in tech support land...

Re: Forum and Site problems today
For context, if you understand this email we literally just got you are welcome to interview for my job and take over!!
Hello again,
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience regarding this. While reviewing additional links on your site, we were able to replicate a MySQL error on some pages. This was caused by a .htaccess directive:
suPHP_ConfigPath /home/username
In /home/modelt/public_html/.htaccess which was not compatible with the updated Apache configuration. This has been unset, and pages such as http://www.modeltfordclubofamerica.com/homecoming/ no longer show a MySQL error. If you are still seeing issues with the site, please let us know the details and we would be happy to investigate.

I'm glad they explained it in plain English.

Jeff, the standard print could be just a little larger and bolder for old folks to read.

Gentlemen,
It's like an old rock and roll record; you have to play it backward to get the REAL meaning out of it.

I thought you guys would get a laugh over that. Welcome to my world, where I look for my secret decoder ring in my Captain Crunch every morning just so I can decipher the days cryptic messages.

On your keyboard hold down shift and command, then hit +. Every + makes the type a little bigger. You can make it so big you have to scroll to see all of it. To go smaller, use command and -.

Re: Forum and Site problems today
They look like Linux scripts! I understand/see but still way over my head. Not a skilled terminal user at all. GUI is where I'm at.
Been battling with SSL issues of my own on my antique Linux system until I updated to a modern OS and kernel. This is way bigger.
Sheesh, I know what the SQL is DEEP in my memory bank but the file's locked.
Bah, I was messing around last night, the forum wouldn't work, I figured something was up and went about my business on other topics.
Thanks guys! I know you're doing what you need to do to sort out issues with the changeover to phpBB.
Works good!

Jeff,
BELIEVE me!!! I have a HUGE amount of respect for you and Chris B for handling this stuff. I worked most of my wage earning life in cutting edge high technologies!
Your statement:
"I’m as frustrated as everyone is - I’m the one who has to put up with the bozos in tech support land..."
Says a LOT!
I HATED dealing with the gamer and marketing mentalities that took over the tech world. Most of how I feel about dealing with those ####### so-and-sos cannot be said in a family friendly forum.
