Model T era dealer badges / plaques

Post by Mark Osterman » Tue Jan 07, 2020 9:31 pm

Bought this NOS dealer badge the other day. Was wondering how common they are and would like to see some more if you have one to post here.

My brother pulled this off the dash of a touring car that was sticking up
out of a sandbar in a local creekbed and gave it to me when I got serious
about T ownership. The old touring car never got very far from where it
was sold new. Davenport is about 25 miles west of me.
More people are doing it today than ever before !

Very neat. So it was on the steel dashboard and not the firewall. It has a lot of relief compared to the one I posted,

This one was on the header over the windshield on my 1921 coupe. It reads: Sold by
Talbot & Casey, Inc
Grand Ave. & Ankeny St
Portland Oregon
Hard to get a good shot of it but here it is;

Hi Mark,

There were a couple of posts about this topic on the old forum. There may be more. Here are two links. Enjoy. Bill

Thanks Bill. Never saw that thread. Interesting that there were a couple with exactly the same graphics of mine. Wonder if they were available through the Ford company.

There are some wonderful topics on the old forum that are good to revisit. Thanks for bringing this one up Mark and Bill. It's nice to revisit it.

Yes, that is my understanding. Note the odd "nails" in my hand. These, he said,
held it to the dash. They are slightly fatter toward the point, with the narrowest
part of the shank being at the head. Yes, it has a deep relief. Luckily, I put it some
place safe, so I would not lose it. That safe place was so well chosen, I haven't been
able to find it since taking that picture !

The one Burger posted is most likely a casting, like those used on old engines, gravesites etc. Most dealer plates are photo etched and do ot have such relief.
Here in Australia the Shell company sponsored these plates for the dealers if they were interested. The rub-off for Shell was the recommended lubricants were featured on the plates.

This one is on my '25 coupe dash. 95 years later the car is still in Long Beach.
