Broken global repairman?
I'm in Nashville looking for a glass globe repairman. I was pouring packing peanuts over a glass globe I've had in a box for two years and a T part poured over on the globe and broke it. I should have left the damn thing unpacked being it's been safe for the past two years that way! There are a few small pieces the size of a half dollar coin with the other three larger chunks.
Anyhow, any recommendations would be appreciated. It's worth a phone call to a repairman to inquire on the cost.

RYAN, KNOW JUST HOW YOU FEEL, A FEW YEARS BACK I WAS GIVEN A DOG BONE RADIATOR CAP WITH A SMALL WORKING MOTOR METER , IT WAS WRAPPED IN A CLOTH ON MY BENCH, KINDA FORGOT IT WAS THERE, SIGH, I NEEDED A RAG QUICK, YUP ON THE FLOOR WITH A CRASH, I KNEW AS SOON AS I SWUNG THE RAG WHAT I DID, BUT JUST STOOD THERE AND WATCHED THAT LITTLE TREASURE SMASH TO THE FLOOR, WHAT I WOULD GIVE TO HAVE IT TO PUT ON MY MODEL T , GOOD LUCK FINDING YOUR MAN.

Glass globe? Is that something on a Model T?

Re: Broken global repairman?
Do you know what kind of fuel pump it is or is it real rare? Old tractors and gas tanks used glass bowls in their fuel system. Might be something to check to see if they would be close to identical.

Think John means this type of globe.

So we're talking about one of these. I would start at TSC, Orscheln, Fleet & Farm, etc. Whatever your local farm supply is. Maybe Napa, O'Reilly, etc., but I doubt it. You may have to order online. Google glass bowl fuel filter.

Re: Broken global repairman?
Whichever one it is hope you can repair it.
We repaired a fairly rare Avon bottle with super glue and it does work. Maybe there are other types of glue that’s good for glass repair. Good luck.

Re: Broken global repairman?
I bought this from Bill Houston 2 yrs ago. Looking at it makes me sick that the dumb bolt was left in the packing peanuts and broke it. I believe
Fred or someone hand painted it themselves.

I’d say you are SOL Ryan, I just this afternoon broke a 120 year old piece of beveled glass in a coin op machine. I know the sick stomach you have, you will get over it never !

Re: Broken global repairman?
Oh that does suck. If glued, the cracks will still show when lit. Your best bet might be to look for a milk glass or opal lamp shade or lamp globe and then get the Ford script painted or stenciled on. Good luck!

Re: Broken global repairman?
Here's a long shot: Get a white baloon and blow it up inside the globe just tight enough to be the shape of the globe and use some UV glue to put it back togeather. I get the Ultra 'Violet glue at my ACE Hardware store. If it works fine. If it dosen't at least U tried.

Re: Broken global repairman?
This reproduction visible fuel pump globe took a break too. Appears owner fixed it with glue, but as posted, you can see the repairs.

Re: Broken global repairman?
If you can see the glue lines after you put it back together you could paint more lines on the globe to make it look like crazing which is common in old pottery.
