Virtual Model T Tour
Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines! This (virtual) tour won't be canceled, and it starts today!
As you have probably guessed, living 40 miles from downtown Chicago, I am starting to go a little bonkers.
I am inspired by the camping in a Model T thread, and the beautiful scenery photos posted there, such as this one:
And so I propose some "arm chair" travel. Most of you have photos of past trips in your Model T, so why don't you post them here, and every day we can have a pleasant distraction. I am not a "rule" guy, but I do have a suggestion: how about you can post as many photos as you want, but only post one photo a day. That way we will have more variety, and fresh "travel" experiences every day we are on "lock down".
So, let's "hit the road"!
(On the road to Pickford, MI; 2019 Michigan Jamboree of T's.)

Re: Virtual Model T Tour
Took Clarabelle, my '13 Touring on the MTFCI annual tour in 2016 to the Finger Lakes in New York State. Great time. Beautiful
scenery everywhere. Probly some of the best touring country this side of the Mississippi. But then, I haven't been to that many areas, so who knows!
Dang it! Sorry it went sideways folks!! You know the drill!!

Re: Virtual Model T Tour
Suggestion: It seems to be photos in a vertical format that show up sideways here. Before you post a vertical shot, try this. Open the photo. Click on Tools. Rotate 90º Left or Right (doesn't matter which) then back to vertical. Post. It works for me. Your computer may vary.

I have had trouble myself, getting my photos to post correctly, so I will practice Jelf's technique.

Re: Virtual Model T Tour
Responding to Steve, Most of the going down was high range of my Ruckstell and low pedal. I hardly used the rocky mountain brakes on the way down and I just let the engine do most of the work. The brakes were only for the hair pin turns. I timed those so no one was coming the opposite direction so I could take advantage of the oncoming lane of traffic. Kept the braking to a minimum.
Going up was a different story, I split shift the Ruckstell like a 4 speed to keep the RPM manageable. It took about 2 1/2 hours to get up and about 45 minutes to get down.

This was last September when I drove the original 1926 alignment of route 66 from St Louis to Cuba Mo for the Cuba Lions car show. It is parked at the door of my stone cabin for the night at the Wagon Wheel Motel. It is said to be the oldest continuously operated motel on route 66. Well worth a visit, and you can get great bbq right next door!

On the way home from Montana, I stopped in Yellowstone NP for a couple of days. The afternoon traffic was awful so most of the running was before 11am. This was taken along the Yellowstone River.

Our ancestors were hardy folk!
Covered Bridge Tour 2019 - I don't know if a top would have made much difference. The good thing? The electrical system didn't short out Covered Bridge Tour 2019 - 90° highs in Early October? Who'd have guessed? Hey, at least the T didn't overheat. My Bergs radiator was a good investment.

Ok, so this one is of a tour we did in the mountains of the Southwest here in Colorado sometime around 2000. That is my old C-cab in front. Sometimes I wish that I still had that truck. Oh well......

I couldn’t figure out the TWO reason why Wayne’s picture was in Canada. The flag was a giveaway but where was the second ? Then I enlarged the picture and sure enough there was Good Queen Victoria.

Dan...I love the UP, Mackinac bridge and the island and St. Ignace. Never had a T there, but would be a thrill crossing the bridge in one. Meanwhile, heres a tour pic from last year in a bit more sedate fall setting!

Thanks Wayne!! I will try to remember to do that on the next submission!!!
Then watch, it'll end up sideways differently as it would otherwise post "normal"!! Always my luck!
But I will preview it first and go from there.

Here's mine for today. Coupla years ago got brave, and it was getting toward the end of the season, so I decided to take
my now former '20 Runabout for a spin to the local big box hardware store, down a usual busy road. No problem! Everyone
loved seeing the car, gave me plenty of space.

Re: Virtual Model T Tour
I believe this was our last club tour the end of Oct. '19. Had another breakfast with several other guys who couldn't finish the morning with a nice little fall tour, at this neat little ramshackle bar called Havanna Tavern. We always have a blast there.
The floor in the area we eat literally has a 26" slope from one end to the other. It's crazy fun there. So I stopped the gang on this
bridge for a little photo op. The fall color was actually better downstream, sadly, and real nice along our travels. Great time.

That's a pretty little church Wayne!
Here's three of us on an early spring tour coupla years ago, on South Bass Island, Ohio, a.k.a. "Put-In-Bay". PIB is actually just the
little village on the island. Everyone calls the island Put In Bay instead. Some people don't even know the correct
name of the island! Was a great day for us. My '13, Tom Sloma's '23, Dick Suhr's '17 bringing up the rear.

Re: Virtual Model T Tour
Headed to one of our many breakfasts at the "world famous" Havanna Tavern...the one with the floor that slopes
about 26" from one end to the other. No kidding!! We have a great time there, usually just the guys. Somehow sitting at a long
set of tables is a lot of fun that way, you can see everyone easier that way!
Well Wayne...I TRIED rotating it first, copying, then submitting. This is what I got! Sorry

Re: Virtual Model T Tour
This photo was on a peak of about 8000 feet near Big Bear in Southern California late last year. The tour was only three days but we had a great time even though one member received a traffic ticket on the way home.

Tiffany Stone Bridge. This is the oldest stone arch bridge in the state of Wisconsin. It was built in 1869 and crosses the Turtle Creek in rural Rock County, in the town of Turtle. The bridge is still used by the Union Pacific Rail Road.

Another stone arch bridge. The Fox Bridge over Grouse Creek was built in 1911 and destroyed by a flood in 2016.
The inevitable often happens.

Re: Virtual Model T Tour
Beartooth Pass. "10,947 feet (3,337 m) above sea level. It has been called "the most beautiful drive in America," by late CBS correspondent Charles Kuralt. Because of heavy snowfall at the top, the pass is usually open each year only from mid May through mid October, weather conditions permitting." Only light snow on the way down. (August)
When did I do that?

Re: Virtual Model T Tour
That beartooth was the most painfull drive in America for me Rich. I took the wife over the pass on the Harley in 2004. My side still hurts where she was hanging on!
