The gaiters on expensive British cars were often made of leather and laced in place. Canvas, being woven, would require hemming to stop fraying and and eyelets for lacing them in place. Unlike the steel ones from Alemite in the previous post, I would expect leather/fabric items to be service items like fan belts and brake linings.

The Alemite gaiters are the best thing going, if you can find any. Ford and other makers used them, or something very similar, in the late 1930s and 1940s. There is a company making gaiters for antique cars to order. Searching "Spring Gaiters" might locate them. A set of gaiters, front and rear combined with double acting hydraulic shocks would make a very good riding and handling T.
