Crank: "Bear" Antikick Back
Here are two anti-kick devices made by BEAR MFG CO. ROCK ISLAND Ill. PAT. JUNE 5 1917. This setup pushes the crank handle out and disengages it if the crank kicks backwards. Notice the clamp plate changed configuration and the holding screws went from 4 to 3. If I had to guess I would say the four screw unit was the first one offered for sale to be followed later by the revised three screw clamp since it took less steps to produce.
