Re: Coil numbering?
It's possible the camshaft timing gear is installed 180 degrees off. If the pin hole in the end of the camshaft isn't drilled all the way through the camshaft, the timer "rotor" can only be installed one way. Number 1 and number 4 cylinders are "paired" cylinders. If the cam gear is installed 180 de...

Re: WTB: Ford model T touring
Garrett I know of a Model T touring for sale in Central CA, (Fresno/Visalia area). Its not for the "purist", but it would be a fun car to "play with". He's asking $10,000.00 for it. Its kind of a mix-up of years/parts, but it does look pretty decent. Give me a call and we can discuss further details...

The wrench was usually supplied with the ford tractors, (8-N, 2-N, 9-N), The measurements were used for setting the adjustments on the plow. That was I was told many years ago and have never heard anything to contradict that information.

Another thing to check is the "plug" inside the transmission out-put shaft. Something to think about, and others have eluded to it on this post. Hand crank starting any antique vehicle, tractor, "one-lunger"engine or truck and successfully backing a trailer. The ability to have success in any of those endeavors is DIRECTLY porportional to the number of witnesses/spectators.

Re: 2021 BAKERSFIELD SWAP MEET-BACK ON- PLEASE READ!!
Well, its been a week or so since my last up-date. Chickasha 2021 is behind us and I hope all are doing well after the Easter Holiday. There are just four short weeks 'til the Tulare Pre-War/Brass-Era inaugural swap meet. I'm very optimistic about the success of this event. The initial 200 spaces ar...

Re: A name is?
I guess I'm another one of those guys that never grew up, (although I am getting older). The name comes from the car I drive; a 1967 Pontiac GTO. Its the car I drove to high school and just couldn't ever even think of getting rid of it. (it has over 300,000 miles on it now).

Re: FJ - What Are You Bringing To “ The New Bakersfield “ Tulare Swap Meet ?
Thank you "Freighter Jim" for starting a new thread about "what you're going to bring". I was going to do that this morning, but I'll just add to yours! I'll have 8 spaces along row "H", four on each side of the row. That's 6400 square feet of vendor space and I'll fill half of it with lots of neat ...

Re: Tulare prewar swap meet
Get your spaces early, BUT!! There is plenty of room for expanding the field!! The pre-war "grid" currently has 200 spaces. We can expand that grid to 400, 600, 800, and on and on and on!!! All spaces are "good" spaces. Don't be bashful, let's fill up the whole 600 acres!!! Let's have some fun! Kind...

Re: Tulare Brass Era/Pre-War Swap Meet 2022 NEXT YEAR!!!
John, Thank you for the response. I too have a hard time trying to "balance" the mid-week move-in stuff. I truly want to make this event enjoyable for all. The actual event will be on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Move-in will be encouraged on Thursday or Friday, but it will be "available" as early as W...

Tulare Brass Era/Pre-War Swap Meet 2022 NEXT YEAR!!!
I realize we are still planning the 2021 event, but I wanted to give you a "Save the Date" advance notice for the 2022 event. It will be April 22, 23, 24, 2022. That is Friday, Saturday, Sunday with "move-in" dates as early as Wednesday. The event will be held in conjunction with the California Anti...

Re: 2021 BAKERSFIELD SWAP MEET-BACK ON- PLEASE READ!!
Here's the latest on the "Bakersfield"/Tulare, Brass Era Pre-War Swap Meet: I'm very pleased with the response, so far, about the number of people reserving their spaces. I encourage you to continue to make plans to attend this new venue. There is plenty of room to expand the field so don't be shy a...

Re: What's wrong in these photos?
OK, here's my last "guess". The photo is taken in a residential setting in 1948, but I don't see any power lines or telephone poles in the background. By 1948, most neighborhoods had visible power lines. This could be a rural neighborhood that is still "off the grid".

Re: What's wrong in these photos?
The only other thing I can see that is "wrong" is the starting crank engaged in the crankshaft and not hanging straight down, again, that has nothing to do with the photo being taken in 1948. There is a fairly new 1946 Ford in the first photo, but not noticeable in the second picture.

Re: What's wrong in these photos?
I saw the missing side light, the right door latch handle is horizontal in the first picture, but vertical in the second photo. It appears to have the one piece spindles, but a later front axle, notice the amount of clearance between the spindle and the axle. I don't know what that would have to do ...

Re: Model TT Radius Rods
Hi Jerry, Like the passenger car parts, TT parts were up-dated/changed during production. There were at least 4 major changes in the car radius rods, (some people say there were as many as 8 versions). The TT had at least 2 versions. The one with the "continuous taper", (early), and one that was "st...

Its been a few days and a lot has been happening. Here's the latest: We mailed the information packets to the 2019 Bakersfield vendors today. There were 195 vendors on that list. I tried to have the exact "Bakersfield" grid duplicated on the Tulare grounds. Unfortunately, that simply wasn't possible...

As I stated earlier, I couldn't do anything about the dates for this year. I sincerely hope that both events can be successful this year and the dates can be sufficiently separated for next year. I am currently putting together information packets that will be sent to the 2019 Bakersfield vendors. I...

The 2021 "Bakersfield" Swap Meet WILL be held this year on May 1st. The location is changed to the International Agri-Center in Tulare California. I have access to an all original late 1911/early 1912 with all the original murphy fasteners in their original locations. I could probably take detailed pictures with measurements. The car does have the fore-doors installed, but it also has the two-piece fire-wall. The fastener locations should be t...

I didn't read all the texts, but as to the make of the two trucks in the picture. The truck on the left, (with the crane), is a Fageol. That's the only make with a hood of that design, note the large louvers on the top of the hood. (They also made tractors with the same style hood). The one on the r...

Re: Hyatt bearings stuffed with hair?
I have to give my "two cents worth" on this subject. Many years ago, when rebuilding my first Model T rear-end, I found the same"problem". I discounted it as a felt washer that was ground up and found its way into the rollers. I no longer think that is the case. I've looked at and handled countless ...
