Will do , just fasten the positive to the blob and the negative to the block ? Do I need to do anything else ? ( other than cranking the engine ) the engine just sitting in the frame and nothing else is hooked up to it .

Ok , did mikes test with 6v charger , all reachable coils are magnetized when hooked to the charger , the first one left of the blob and the right one as well , I think I’m just going to put it all back together and start it up to see if it runs on mag . Magneto help needed
Is there anyone near Waterford pa that has experience with the model T magneto ? I’m having issues with mine not having much charge on the magnets , have done the in cr flash with 3 batteries and a dc welder to no avail .

Strap was cold roll steel about 1/8” thick and 4” long , not sticking anywhere , but has some draw to the magnets , hand cranking ( hogshead is off and oil drained ) 0.7 vac on a fluke multi meter ( not analog )

Ok , so , checked coil ring continuity , not open , however checked the solder blob ( hogshead is off ) and have continuity to ground , ensured that the flywheel magnets were as close as they could be to the coils , flashed again , nothing , compass reads north and south poles and with a small piece...

I will try that next and report back. For checking the coil ring , just make sure there’s continuity between the coils and no short to ground correct ?

A socket to see if it sticks to the magnets , it does not . Magnets are very weak . Would rather not pull the flywheel and transmission assembly but I may have to.

Tried the welder method @225 dc , flashed ground , no change , magnets will let the compass read north and south , but that’s all the magnetism I get ….

Very good advice !! I will definitely clean up the area before moving forward , I pulled this unit out of a barn quite a few years ago and am looking forward to getting it back together . They are the two piece valves , the whole thing needs cleaned up and out .

Lighting issue solved !! It was the ground , thanks !! Did the suggested jumper cable test with a fully charged battery and starter turns very slow , so assuming the starter is not working properly

Trying to get my tires on split rims ( demountable ) to no avail , have used the rim tool , have used the turn buckle and the wooden plates with a Jack between them to help spread open to be able to latch them , but cannot get them to open up enough without them twisting . Any other ideas ?

Wood Wheels mount with hooks to spokes of iron wheels , see pictures , no luck yet finding a tag , but the iron wheels have brake drums that fit the tt axle , not sure why the wood wheels are even used . Pretty neat set up though!

The wheels definitely need rebuilt , just wondered why they would even bother bolting the rear wood wheels to the cast iron ones ? TT rear differential, thinking the whole thing was TT at some point.
