This is the valve guide, it’s pressed in the block from the bottom up, reamed and honed to fit the valve stem.

The brass piece is a sleeve and is the lifter guide. ITT is cut to size and pushed into the block and the reamed and honed to size.

The lifter guides can go in either way, but they need to be flush with the base of the hole in the block. The valve guide must go in from the bottom of the valve chamber.

That's great Keith, there are a few notes in the pages noting parts and prices. This book is probably out of one of the branches. The last book in this is NRS, no T parts are listed. I bought it years ago from Walter Miller, an antique auto literature dealer in New York.

I saw this last year, it was for sale for 50k. I'm sure Jerry is correct, it's from Ford likely sold in one of the auctions years ago. I'd guess it's around 1904, they must have been experimenting with an atmospheric valve.

John, The bands are still ok, the car runs great. I changed the oil when I got the car in 1986 and again 3 weeks ago in anticipation of its move to Piquette.

Guy, you and your dad brought your 1912 over to my house, that was the smoothest running T. I was a convert of a balanced motor from then on. Glad you still have it. We were still young back then!

As far as his business goes, Langs bought the top and door straps, all the specialty nuts and bolts. Someone bought all the coils and parts, but hasn’t offered any coil repair as of this time. Jon is still doing the woodwork.
