That cooling tower and gas tank is a nice find! Lots of neat things to see there. :) Your hose clamp "points": On my 1-1/2 FM I use a solid copper wire with an L formed on the end, fastened to a piece of fiber board that's bolted to the block. As the crank throw passes by touching the wire, it compl...

Re: Could this be used to charge a T battery?
Not certain about Briggs engines but 18, 20, 22 etc horse Kohlers should put out a max of 30 volts AC at the stator but will charge nicely at about 25 volts AC on that output. The only issue I'd see is the AC voltage from the T magneto is one wire. The Briggs stator is nicely isolated with the two w...

It certainly is BUSY on that side of the engine! There's an oil cup where the rear spring "shackle" would be on some cars. Wonderful photos. :) Burger, I see the bridge designer's name of Modjeski. Mod...jeski. That's interesting as here it's been spelled Majeski and even more correct Maciejewski. Maciej = Majee & add the eski/ewski. Simple right? Oops, not so much. Same outcome. Majeski or Majevski. See where the V got...

Had a backing plate that the layers were separating around the locking pin. Put on some CA/crazy glue liquid, stuck it in the vise, opened and closed it to help the glue get IN the layers, added a little more glue, gently set the vise just snug and left it overnight. Nice and solid the next day. Fil...

Shoot a little oil in the cylinders and let it soak in for a couple days if your compression is weak. How's it feel while cranking? Nothing really there or a bit "springy"? If your coils & plugs are firing on the battery charger, that's just fine for now. I drove my 18 out of my little shop with an ...

Felt keeps the dirt out whilst being oily for the moving parts. Unless fully yucked-up with dirt-rust. I broke a shaft mount because it was rusted securely. Welded it back together and went on. Hmmm, I have felt and scissors. Why the heck haven't I re-felted those holes? Cotton waste would work too....
