Re: 15-16 top question.
When in doubt, I look it up. The encyclopedia description doesn't go into great detail, but tells the basics. Screen Shot 2022-01-16 at 10.22.39 AM.png I cheated and got a top with an incorrect roll-up rear for my 1915. I'm glad I did. IMG_4095 copy.JPG It's nice having the shade with air circulati...

Re: 15-16 top question.
If anyone asks, just tell them that sometime in the car's 104-year history, that the top was damaged after a tree fell on it, so the top got replaced! Most people, including a lot of T people, would not know the difference anyway. What will make you happy, factory or later replacement? Yo...

Re: 15-16 top question.
Derrick, the bows and irons that you have will fit your car. They are not correct, but will work. The earlier bows are one piece and are steam bent, while the later ones are curved steel with wood inserts. The replacement wood is available for both kinds, just make sure you purchase the later type ...

15-16 top question.
Happy new year everyone! I'll get straight to the point. When I purchased my 1916 touring it had come with a set of top irons and bows. Assuming they were correct for the car, they sat in the corner for a while. Tonight, I looked over them more carefully as I am planning on doing the top soon, I rea...

Re: Magneto Problem
Noted, thanks!Norman Kling wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 4:17 pmI will clarify something which I said which could be misinterpreted with disasterous results.
When "I said to connect the battery terminal to the block", I meant the terminal block, NOT the magneto terminal on the top of the hogs head.

Re: Magneto Problem
Before doing anything else, try this. Remove the wire from the magneto post to the terminal block. Tape up the end. Then take a wire from the battery terminal and connect to the magneto terminal on the block. Now start up the car on battery, and then switch the key to magneto. The car should run on...

Re: Magneto Problem
By chance is your problem after washing your car? I had something similar, and I didn't tie it together with car washing for some time. My symptom was running rough intermittently. One afternoon after washing the car I got shocked when I touched the coil box; turned out I had a carbon trace in the ...

Re: Magneto Problem
As usual, Norm's suggestions are on the mark. But if this is the 1916 there is no terminal block. In that case, disconnect the magneto wire from the coil box and tape the end. Then install a jumper wire from the battery terminal on the coil box to the magneto terminal on the coil box, leaving the w...

Re: Magneto Problem
Derrick though you will hate doing you may need to remove the starter. Take the Bendix off first! Once removed from the bendix cover side & with someone turning the motor with the hand crank(take the plugs out to make it easier) and inspect the face plates on the magnets to see if one ore more have...

Re: Magneto Problem
A little while ago we had our motor taken apart since we needed valve work and other issues fixed. We added a higher compression head and all went well and it ran very good on magneto, for a while. The car did run well on battery and started to falter on mag. As you did, we looked everywhere, I tho...

Re: Magneto Problem
I have an original switch. My wiring harness are about 2-3 years old. I should also note that the car does run good on battery.

Magneto Problem
Hey all, My magneto has been running rough for about 3 months now. I’ve done my best to look for simple problems that might be right under my eyes. As of now, I’ve checked the mag post for any lint that might be stuck inside the hogs head and on the mag post itself. I’ve checked for any loose wiring...

Gland rings
Hey all, I’m just trying to clear up perhaps a silly and simple question I’ve never really gotten an answer to. I’ve seen people put Gland rings in the manifold first, but I also I see some put them in the block first, which way do you think is the correct way? Does it matter which one they go in fi...

Looking for a car transport.
Hi all, could anyone recommend a reputable and affordable car transporter? I already know about freighter Jim, but I’m looking for other options. Looking to ship a T from Kentucky to California. If anyone will happen to be passing by Kentucky to ca let me know and we can work something out. Thanks i...
