Thanks for the comments, I was starting with the assumption that the location of the seat relative to the frame might be different for some years and body styles so a measurement from the heel board to the switch might give me Henry's opinion on where the switch is best functional and not in the way...

That helps, my frame holes match your measurement. Note My hood shelf is 3/4" behind the radiator, that must be a clue.

How much gap should there be between the hood shelf and the radiator brass? anybody have pictures of these details?
