I'm late to the party, as usual... But have been told my RPU is likely a cut down touring, although it was a roadster when my dad got it done 35 years ago. Re: Clutch Release Ring: How Much Slop Can I Live With?
I wish I took a photo when I had my trans out to rebuild... But given the limited action of the ring, I would think if it was worn substantially, it would have worn elliptical. It looks evenly worn. Bcan you see evidence the ring's pivot pins are worn?

Hi Dallas .... You know it!! Lol! It's been a long summer, without the T! I sure hope I haven't done any updates and repairs that will necessitate taking it back apart!
Hope to see you soon, with that truck or RPU of yours!!!

I really like a sun visor... When my top irons were incorrect, I made a roof extension, that was effectively a sun visor. It was fine in rural-ish driving around Petoskey (northern Michigan), but was painful when we moved to the Detroit suburbs.... So I feel your pain! I have removed that top and ir...

Re: Oil pn support dogear blocks
Turns out, it wasn't all that hard to resolve . Well... Would have been easier if I was 27, an not 67... But that's another story. I removed the top bolts, and removed the nuts from the horizontals that were pit in wrong. Then took an air chisel and cut and knocked out the wood blocks, then removed ...

Thanks for all the tips. My problem was I put the wood blocks in the same way that I took the old ones out. I assumed they were put in correctly, and they were not. There is indeed a whole for the horizontal bolt in my dog ears, and most of you probably thought I was crazy for saying there wasn't pe...

Re: Oil pn support dogear blocks
Hmmm... That would make sense... But I don't recall the lower hole in the dogear for the horizontal bolt to go through. That would certainly make getting the engine in easier! Although getting the nut in the inside is another matter!
I'll have to check for the holes!
Thanks!

Oil pn support dogear blocks
There are wood blocks that support the bolts which mount the oil pan dogears to the frame. Should the heads of the horizontal bolts that secure the blocks in the frame channel, be counter sunk into the wood? Those bolt heads give me fits, by hanging up the dog ears when pulling it replacing the engi...

Ahh... Very good all!
I'll let her go. I did think of brazing it closed and re-drill. Glad I didn't.
Jerry... Yes.. it's the hole on the arm hanging from the pedal. The other hole that the clevis goes through is fine. Well... I guess they both are!
thanks!

slow speed pedal arm and clevis connector
I'm putting my transmission back together and gave an Almost new slow pedal clevis connector. The 'foot' of the connector that goes through the arm on the slow pedal is quite loose. The connector foot isn't worn at all, so assume the hole it goes into is wallered out a bit. How much is too much? Wis...

Hi, Jeff.. I might take you up on the bottom tap! I had a few when I was doing pen turning, but gave them away with a small wood lathe I sold. Weren't this size, anyway. ☺️ Are original bolts grade 5-ish? I wouldn't think they would be stretching if grade 8.... But maybe tougher than the block. Dennis

Mark... Do you remember if the bottom plate of glass extended up over the top of the channel the cap sits on? I.e., if the glass was out, would the bottom cap fit on it's channel, with the top cap now being able to clear it? Of so, maybe the bottom one isn't fully seated in that brass channel... Or ...

head bolts
I'm reassembling my engine and about ready to put the head on. Current head bolts have a 3 1/4" shank. The shallowest head bolt hole in the head is 15/16" deep. If I put a head bolt in the old head, with no washer, I'm left with 9/16" to go into the head .. and that's with no gasket in place. With m...

I have to add, that I agree with Terry... He apparently responded while I did mine. I agree that brazing would be the better way to go.... It should not be too difficult for a good welder. Yes... Greetz, Pat.. As to the JB weld... It would be best to remove the shaft... But I think this one is difficult, as the cam is inside, and you must get it's pin out... Then back in again, after the repair. That would be hard on the new repair. I think any kind of tape you could put over the shaft would...

Griaß di! I agree with the others: Check clutch spring adjustment. Get wider brake band for the brake material. (This will not effect your hill climbing, however... Just braking ability on the way down!) The band material is correct... But the brake band is too narrow. That metal piece came from you...
