Re: Locking ring wheel help

One more thing to watch is when removing a stuck tire, be careful not to smash the lip of the rim with the tire irons. If the lip gets smashed, it will no longer allow the lock ring to fully seat.

Re: Canopy Top for TT Cab

The “low” roof was the earliest design and not made to stow side curtains. I believe this low roof was discontinued in early ‘24. The “high” roof had storage holes and clips for the side curtains. The steel side panels were also notched at the top to accept the cross bows for the low roof. These sid...

Many years ago my father made a soldering iron from an old veneer iron. The temperature is adjustable from 200 - 500F. He milled a slot in the face of the iron and inset a copper strip. This is one of the best soldering irons that I've ever used.

After looking at pictures of other original screw drivers, I believe that the flutes in the handle were fairly shallow when new. The drawing above makes them look very deep and defined but I don't believe that they were so pronounced.

Finally found a screw driver for my TT

I've looked for quite a while for a correct screw driver for my TT. I found one today at a steam and gas engine show for $8.00.

Is there any record of years when this was provided in the tool kit?

Martynn, From what I know, there were 3 different TT Ruckstell shifters. The earliest, and weakest, was the bronze housed Hall-Scott shifter as is shown above. I don't believe that this one had the upper spring and retainer. The next is the cast short Hall-Scott shifter, like the one you have drawn....

The Ford pumps did not come with a check valve (as is stated in the Lang's check valve link above). Any check valves, at least in the brass pumps, were after market. The difference in the valve stem coupler would be the little piece of metal in the middle of the coupler that would work in conjunctio...

The boss around your old valve stem sat in a keeper in your felloe to prevent the rim from spinning on it. Your new rims don't appear to be TT but should work okay as long as everything fits up as stock. You should weld in a similar boss on the new rims to act in the same manner as the originals.

Also, the roof does show the roof slats but it is minor as long as the roof material is tight. I expect that they showed some originally too but don't show up well in period photos. They certainly did not have thick padding. An overstuffed roof on a C cab doesn't look good.

Tom, I think that you'll find that the inside edge of an AA rim (where the rim seats on the wheel) has a sharper corner that a TT rim. This prevents it from going on the wheel the whole way.
