Re: A period looking shop.

Dallas, I like yours better on the inside. I wanted to put the wood inside but also want to paint cars in this shop and the old wood holds way more dirt and dust to drop into wet paint so I was going to use drywall and ended up going with reclaimed sheet metal from an old pole barn that was getting ...

Re: A period looking shop.

I did the same thing 5 or 6 years ago with the old corn crib that I wanted to save from the farm but it was in poor condition so I took it down one board at a time and rebuilt it inside the pole barn to use as a workshop. I replaced the 2x4's with reclaimed lumber and only had to buy the floor joist...

I always thought it would be fun to own a car the same age as me but its even more fun to drive a car the same age as my Grandpa. He was born in 1909 a couple of months after my Model T was built. This is how we named the car Grandpa. It also fits when it is hard to start since it only has the hand ...

I made a real heavy bucking bar in the lathe to back up the rivets in my truck frame. Then I used an air hammer with the correct tip to fit the round end. Heat the rivet and go to it till it is the shape you want. If it cools down heat it again and keep at it. You will get there.

Re: Slotted Head #8 Wood Screws Free You Pay Shipping

Put me down for about 3 pounds or so. I looked everywhere for some like that about 15 years ago and bought what I could find but have used almost all of them and have a need for more so this will save a lot of searching. I will send you the address but for postage costs the zip is 46947 here. Let me...

Re: Mag Particle Results - 1911 Crankshaft

That crank scares me and these guys before me know a LOT more than I do. I have a lot more money in just a bare block for my 1912 right now than the cost of the new Scat cranks cost and now I need to get the bare block rebuilt and will end up with more than $5000 in it when its done WITHOUT the Scat...

I thought it was called "Flubber" Thanks Don for clearing that up for me, I know you have done a lot of research on this car while my limited research is from other old cars and trucks I have seen with original tops and some "restored" with chicken wire for a roof! I was not aware of the way they di...

Don, I have followed this thread from the start and my hat is off to you. I feel I can not post in Steve's thread about what I have done to my Model T because the only thing I have done this month is watch you build this body from almost nothing to an amazing car. Good advice so far but I have used PPG for years and have paint jobs over 35 years old that I base my own needs on. I like my paint to hold up 20 years or more but on cars kept inside most of time it is hard tell what may or may not hold up in the real world. I have done single stage urethane and ba...

Darren, I don't have a spare key but when I get home will try to check my original key to see if the one you posted looks the same. I plan to do the same as you with the box in my 13 Touring and rebuild the coils along with a couple of spares in case I am out with the car and have a problem because ...

The graffiti we see on the old cars today is easy to remove as was on my 1968 Mustang both times I did it to my own car. The first time was when I graduated from high school and the second time was when I got married. I still have the car with no ill effects but the wife not so much. I will say I di...

The first one that comes to mind for me is the 1914 Touring owned by Seamus Hnat but I only have older pictures from before the artwork started so I stole this shot from one of Steve Jelf's posts and give Steve credit for it and the many others he shares with us. What have you done to your Model T in December?

Since it looks like cold weather has slowed the progress on most of our T's I guess I will start it this month. I decided to double check my 09 coolant and since it was a little low and could not check it I decided to start the car and add some more and let it warm up so it would mix well before che...

I think what Wayne saw as a prop nut is a model T engine valve over the coat rack. I also see something next to the light over the sink but it is small and will not show detail on my computer so no idea what it is. Other thing farther out from the light looks like a door knob. Strange place for it i...

As you can see the last owner tried to put on a later radiator and the headlights were updated to electric at some point and almost all the brass had been removed other than the windshield so even that may not be original. When superman came to earth he found a model T in the barn to drive to town but someone locked the steering to prevent theft.

My 13 wont help as it has had some damage where it looks like someone pried the tank up and out through the seat platform to replace it or something. I do think Scott is correct about it should be a round tank but don't take my word on this one, let the experts confirm this.
