American Bosch Magneto Corp
I am helping a friend who has the above distributor on his car. I am looking for any information pertaining to its operation, timing, and where I might find ignition parts for this unit. I feel that this is a 1920's era distributor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: valve timing with high compression pistons
I would love to contact the engine rebuilder, but he died quite some time ago. His reputation for rebuilding engines was good. The engine was bought to use and never made it to a chasis. The engine was not just a rebuilt block, but a complete engine. Paul

valve timing with high compression pistons
I have a question on adjusting valves and valve timing with high compression valves. I use a dial indicator on the high domed pistons to find top dead center. I have adjustable valve lifters and have attempted to get the correct valve lash. The valves are the hardened steel type with new seats. I am...

Re: stromberg M1 carburetor
The Lycoming is used on a 1924 Gardner. The big problem with the T4X is that the body takes a pot metal sleeve. Aged pot metal is a problem. First, it swell and cracked the upper carb housing along the mold lined by over 1/8th of an inch. You will be very surprised when you take the carb apart to cl...

stromberg M1 carburetor
I am interested to know if anyone has experience with the Stromberg M1 carburetor? The reason I ask this is that I am working on a car that takes a Zenith T4X carburetor. It is a brass carburetor. Well, not ever working on this carb, I took it apart and quickly found out the air tube is made of pot ...

Why does transmission engage when starting engine?
I refreshed a mid-twenty’s model t transmission by inspecting for drum cracks, new Kevlar bands, new band springs, and adjusting for neutral with new hardware. The clutch fingers set screws are all the way forward. I left them as I found them when I took the engine out of the chassis. The high speed...

Re: coil point arc
thanks for the coil diagram as I will check the points gap and inspect them from pitting.
Rebuilding a coil is out of the question due to fumes.
The wiring is correct on the ignition switch.
I will keep you informed of the coils.

Re: coil point arc
Thanks for everyone's input on the topic. No, I do not know what the capacitor is in the coil as I bought them rebuilt. I do not want to bring up the vendors name in all do respect. I have a Simpson meter and would like to know the procedure to check the capacitor to see if it failing. How do I do t...

coil point arc
I bought rebuilt coils about 5 years ago. There is no arcing across the points while running them on battery (6 volts dc). I switch over to magneto and I have spark across the points. It looks like a roman candle. It disappears if I switch back to battery. What is going on with the coils and ought t...
