who polishes brass and coats them
Does anyone know a place in southern eastern PA or in Maryland or Delaware who polishes brass and then coats them?
I would like to drive the parts to be polished rather than mail them.
There is or was a place in southern PA where I took them about 7 years ago. Can't remember where.
Thank you!

I am leaving from the Baltimore area now (45 minutes north of Baltimore) to the Seaside Heights NJ car show tomorrow. Oh, this is for a 1912, I forgot there were slight changes over the years. That can account for some of the confusion.

I took apart the whole front end only to put it back together because the car got the death wobble. Does the front axle where the spindle goes in get a bushing? Severe front end shake? Shackles?
Is the cause of severe front end wobble because of bad shackles, or probably shackles or maybe shackles? Any other reason?
The wobbles oddly is not consistent as to when it happens. But when it has, the speed was only as it was shifted from low to high going up a small hill.
Thank you in advanced!

I would try selling it as is now. If it does not sell part it out. The risk of parts is the risk of only selling 80% of the car and left with 20% parts taking up space in the garage. Of course you can just sell the left over parts for cheap just to get rid of them. Or swap them with a vender for par...

Also if they can, to beef up the stem that attaches the horn to the body / door. I have had several of these over the years and they all snap apart.

Re: What would be a fair selling price for this - 1912 carburetor?
I took the carb apart. The screws came off without a screwdriver because the person before me cleaned it up and polished it. I hear what you all are saying so I am going to take to Hershey and ask for a professional appraisal. It might be worth $400 or it might be worth at least $175? Thanks again! ...

Re: can a buckboard pick up be put on the back of a 12 torpedo roadster?
Thank you for your feedback, thoughts and reasoning about a rebuild. The car is not original so I doubt it would command a fair price on resale compared to keeping it 'original.' I don't want to go through rebuilding another T so I will continue to think and rethink about the make over. Thanks again...

Re: What would be a fair selling price for this - 1912 carburetor?
Jerry, thanks for your input. I am not looking for an appraisal per se'. I thought this carburator sells for $400. Am I too high or too low? My intent is not to under or over sell what I believe is a valuable Model T asset. I was saving this brass carburetor to include with the sale (someday) of my ...

can a buckboard pick up be put on the back of a 12 torpedo roadster?
I asked this before and someone was kind enough to respond but I forget who he is. I would like ot PM him if he responds again. The pick up will extend about 18 to 20 inches I think. If so, won't that potentially crack or break if someone sits on the tail? I would grateful if someone posted pictures...

Are these brass rods for an 11 roadster or another tcar?
Does anyone know if these are Model T brass rods?
They measure 72 inches and are only bent at the top.
I thought they were for an 1911 roadster (running board to windshield) , but they seem too long???
Thank you!

front tire bows in like it will collapse if I keep turning. Why?
Why does the front tires, mostly the front left I believe, bow in like it is about to collapse when I turn to the left. I tighten the wheel that kinda helped, but not much. The inner bearings were not very tight. Is this a bad bearing situation? It is still in the restoration stage. It is not street...

Thank you Wayne, This is for a 1912 Torpedo Roadster. I have a 1912 Touring so I will see if I can estimate the fit-in length for the touring and emulate it for the roadster.

how far do wood bows go into the top iron.
I have top bows that are new repo's.
The ends are squared that need to be sanded to fit the irons.
The question is, is there a certain length that goes into the iron or do I just arbitrate 6 inches or so.
Thank you!

how do you fix a gas leak?
Would someone please tell me how to stop the gas valve from leaking? My other T also leaks but I live with that one.
The leak is from the top. I tried taking it apart and putting soap on it and some other stuff they say airplanes us on gas valves (I think.)
Thank you in advance, Bob

Is it ok to have a space between the engine and the side rail? (pictures)
There is a gap between the frame and the engine support arms. Is this acceptable or might the weight of the engine pull down the frame? The best I can measure, the engine support frame hole is 21.5 on center. There is a block of wood inside the frame rail. And their is a bolt through the side rail, ...

Re: Is this too dangerous to keep as is?
Drag Link - thank you - I often confuse the two. Measure the pitman arm - good to know! I was afraid road bumps would bend the drag link. Guess not. I put an accessary wishbone on my 12 touring. I plan on putting one on this torpedo too. Thanks for the advice! Hmmm, hopefully the engine will setting...

Is this too dangerous to keep as is?
The tie rod is about 1/8 to 1/4 at the most from the wishbone. I would think that over time it would bend or break. The only solution I see is taking the steel steering shaft to my welder and having him extend the shaft about an inch. Do any of you know what to do or think it is too dangerous to let...

That makes sense. Although ironically that problem is in the T that is painted and restored and I can live with the shorter column.

Re: what is the length of a 1912 Torpedo roadster steering column vs a 1911 steering column?
Thank you Walter. This is perplexing because the 12 touring column tube is 23 1/2 and if it was 25 1/2 like the 12 torpedo, the steering wheel would be pressing against my lap. As it is now the steering wheel is so close I have to spread my legs to advance the timing. Maybe I will have to sell these...

thanks Dan, but now I am more perplexed. The steering shaft length that you shared is 54 1/4" long and not 56". The part I am referring to is in the picture. Of course now I wonder why my shaft is so short? (remember this is a family forum! No comments. lol) Deal with that next. The column is 25 1/2...

what is the length of a 1912 Torpedo roadster steering column vs a 1911 steering column?

I bought brass plated 1911 - 1912 timing and gas rods from a vendor but the rods are too short. (So is the steering shaft because I think the column ...
