Re: Triple Gear Pins
I think Larry is asking about wear on the pins, if you have .002 wear on the pin, check and see if the wear is all the way around the pin, if not .002 out of round wound make a big difference on how the gear runs and I would replace the pins if that were the case. My .002 cents.

I hit post before I was done with it, I don't think that there is any advantage on a Model T to pressurize the cooling system, it might actually hinder the thermosyphon effect. With a properly working cooling system the only modification I do is add a thermostat and I have had no heating problems.

The weakest part of a winch cable is the crimp to make the eye on the end of the cable, when you transport a vehicle with the cable tight it is constantly jerking on the cable at it weakest point and you are relaying on the winch brake to hold it. FS 1926 Barn find Coupe
I have had it for 3 years and haven't done anything but put tires on it so it would roll and clean out an old rat's nest. It sat in a barn in Walla Walla Washington for many years. The fellow the owned it died and his kids decided it was time for it to go. They knew very little about it, they rememb...

It's not often that the steering wheel is bigger than the tires, what a great story it gives me hope for some of my projects.

Re: Timing gear: Aluminum? Nylon? 7.5 degrees advance?
I have run all different kinds of cam gears and never had a problem with any of them. They ran fiber cam gear on Chevy 6 cylinders for years and there is a lot more stress on them than a Model T. The only reason that I think of that a fiber or a nylon gear would give a problem is if when the main be...

Re: A change of fuel on my road to Damascus
My 52 chevy pickup and 63 Ranchero won't hardly start on ethanol fuel and the Ranchero idles poorly but put non ethanol in and they start right up and idle well, I can even tell the difference in one of my Ts. Last night I found a station that sells non ethanol for almost 90 cents a gallon less than...

Re: Post the earliest picture of you and your T
This is a picture of a high school project that I had my senior year. The TT belonged to the San Jose Historical Museum (I think it is now the Heritage Park) The teacher tricked me into working my butt off and donating a lot of parts but what a great project and memory. The girls in the picture rese...

Since trailers have come up I am assuming that hitches are next so I thought I would show how I have done them. The first one is on my 26 roadster, I have used it but with everything else that I carry the whole setup gets heavy. IMG_1031.JPG The second one is on my 26 touring and I ran a piece of re...

Since the trailer topic came up I thought I would share what I have. The trailer for the T I haven't had a chance to use it yet but it has a vintage kitchen on the front, the tongue is extendable so it can be slid in under the kitchen when it is open and be out of the way, there are drop down legs o...

Re: Camping with a T
Yes Phillip that was a trip to Saline Valley, there was 3 vehicles and it still bothers my brother that my T was the only rig to not have any problems , the others were modern rigs. I really enjoy getting into places like that, so I spend a lot of time making sure that my T is in the best mechanical...

I use my turn signals when I feel that a hand signal will not be safe and after dark, I also make sure that my arm is straight for a left turn and a right angle for a right turn and make sure that I am pointing my finger so people don't think that I am waving, I also make it a habit to use my signal...

Re: Camping with a T
I do quite a bit of camping with a T and as long as there are no low bridges you can stack it to the rafters with stuff, of course the more you carry the more it slows you down. The more you go camping the more you realize that you don't really need a whole lot of stuff also you come to realize that...

I run a Z head and have driven over The Trail Ridge Road at over 13,000 ft elevation and I didn't notice any difference, I didn't even mess with the carb adjustment, it is set the same as when I am at sea level and runs great at all altitudes.

I had to mill .034 off of my Z head to make it flat and it caused no problems and it didn't seem to change performance any. If you mill it now and need to later you may be out of luck, I would say leave it alone.

Mine is built for fun not for speed so it is a Funster. It has a Muncie but only gets used to load and unload and reverse so I can use the low pedal to go backwards.

You don't have to pull the pan with a neoprene seal to get the timing cover off unless you are going to replace the seal. I have had a number of timing covers off and just clean out the old sealer and put new in the groove when putting it back together.

If you flip your manifold clamps over you won't need such long studs and you might find long enough studs.
