The spring goes up into the frame ok. But when I tighten it down it pulls down on the left side , uneven from the right . Is there a certain position the clamps go in ?

Every time I clamp the u bolts down it pulls the spring down tighter on the one side making the spring sit angled down on the left side. This makes the car sit angled down on the left side. While depressing clutch for low gear , I get on occasions a slight squealing noise. Could it be time for new bands? Now it’s not all the time but every now and then. I thought maybe the rivets that bound the lining to the band. Opinions please.

Axle key way fit

Just got everything remounted back on the 23 . I tried to fit the key way on to the new axles, but the slot where the key way fits is to tight. Is is common that you have to fit the key way to the new axle ? They fit perfectly into the wheel hub.

Ok ,so I got my differential haves put together with 3 bolt . I can turn the axles free spin with no end play. I can turn my ring gear without any binding. But how free should it spin? I have not put any grease on the inner bearing yet because as I said it is a fit test.

Can I use the coded spool? That what is on it now. And the drive shaft tube bolts up flush to th pinion assembly . I think someone put a different driveshaft it at one time. And the bump side fits up correctly

My real interest is the drive shaft spool that holds the pinion bearing assembly.
What would be used for flat washers or shims between the end of the Hyatt bearing and the pinion nut.

I see the reasoning for the switch being placed on the negative post in the vicinity of the the battery, sparks could occur causing battery gas’s to ignite. When I installed the switch on my 27 touring I placed it on the frame near the starter switch.

I work on fire apparatus , and all of the trucks that I service have two switches. One for the batteries, which is a positive connection and one for the ignition. And some of the older ones still use the colherse switch which is also a positive connection. In thirty years I have not seen any issues ...

Ok I need to replace the tires on the front of my 23. As it is there is excess difference in the wear of the two tires. The one on the left seems to have worn evenly, while the on on the right has excess wear on the outer edge. What is the best way to check front end alignment?
