Re: What is your preferred parts cleaner?

I use #2 diesel in my parts cleaner that will get most of the gunk loose and off. Then I will use gasoline and if I'm going to paint the part I spray it down with brake parts cleaner. Gas and brake parts cleaner are outside activities.

Re: What do you use to heat your (freezing) shop for your T?

I use a 250,000 btu Modine propane heater and wood. I use the propane heater to take the edge off in the morning then wood. I use a mobile home size propane unit to keep my machine shop at 40* which is a good working temp. The coldest I've seen in the shop is +2*, that was a bit to cold to work in.

Re: What have you done with your T in November ?

After years of needing and wanting a car lift I finally found a used one and got it going last week. This is the first T I lifted with it, I'm getting ready to put a set of RM brakes on my Speedster. Happy camper for sure.

Re: 10 vs 11 tooth pinion

I'm running the set up Scott mentions. 10 tooth with a KC Warford and a built motor in a 27 Tudor. It is a great set up here in the mountains of Montana and Idaho. I never have to use low pedal unless I creeping over rocks on a logging road.

Re: Couple questions regarding oversize pistons/valves

I put a Prus head on a motor with 80 over pistons and had plenty of contact with a test fit and no head gasket. I used a bur on the head and got clearance. Every hole needed work. 80 over is tight with a HC head.

One of our favorite day trips is up to Troy, MT on the Bull River Hwy, MT 56. In this picture we are crossing the Kootenay River at Troy. We usually go over to Kootenay Falls just up stream and walk across the swinging bridge.

Re: How cold do you drive?

I take my T's out all winter but I wait for the roads to freeze tight. No salt on the county roads. It's usually in the 20's when I drive so it's pretty nice.

27* yesterday morning. Snow just above us in the mountains. Some places here in Montana got 4 feet of snow. Way to early for all this.

Used the old 25 TT to haul the drive chain off the excavator back to the shop to repair a broken link. That chain weighs a couple hundred pounds.

This is how I got the screw out of my trans. The bore scope plugs into the computer USB port. I could not get an angle to grab the screw except through that screw hole. A magnet couldn't get it.

Scott, they were stock cotton linings that were old and came apart. It was my first T so lack of experience and an unknown road added up. That road was like driving off a ball, it just kept getting steeper.

I lost the brakes in my Roadster on a very steep mountain road over in Idaho and the last thing I wanted was seat belts. I wanted ejection seats!

Another way is to drag and drop a photo right into your message box. Just open a folder with your pictures in a minimized window and then just drag it over and drop it in the message box you are typing in. Works slick.

Finished up the August overhaul on the 23 Speedster and took it for a run. I kind of miss all the knocking it did. Well maybe not. This little speedster runs right along.

John, yes it's quite a fan. That thing moves a lot of air. New car so I'm not sure I need all that fan yet.
