Take a propane torch and wave the flame over the lining until the grease pops out. Then take either a rag or a wire brush and wipe the grease off. Continue doing this until no more grease pops up. Do not let the flame linger in anyone spot on the brake linings.

A word of caution to owners of TW timers. The plastic inside the timer wears faster than the metal contact, causing a sharp edge. If you can feel this edge with your finger, then the inside of the timer needs to be machined smooth, if not a new brush will wear down very quickly.

I would measure the valve lash on that valve to make sure it’s fully seated before you take the head off. If it’s much more than .015 or .020 then maybe all you need to do is take the spark plug out and take a wooden dowel and tap down on the valve to make sure it’s all the way down.

Re: MTFCA Membership
The inflation bug has even hit the MTFCA. We have not have had an increase in dues in a long time, and the cost of doing business, including the magazine and the forum, has increased. Please remember that the museum is run by donations, your dues take care of everything else. The forum that everyone...

Re: MTFCA Increases membership dues 25%
Very little if any of your membership goes toward the museum. It is almost entirely run by donations. The magazine cost for printing and postage is actually what is causing the increase. Once a year the VF has the breakdown of where our dues go. Please take the time to look over this information.

Has anyone ever tried to reduce engine vibrations transmitting to the chassis by placing a strip of rubber between the engine arms and the frame?

Most of those cars use a starter generator like what came on cub cadets and then they use a belt that has several grooves on one side

Re: "fixing" our wood wheels
The three rivets are not what holds that wheel together. The steel rim is heat shrunk onto the wooden fellow to be tight. Using bolts or screws to falsely secure a loose wheel is very bad idea. Fix it right

I restored the one the MTFCA Museum has. It had a very rough previous life and needed all new pins and had to be machine surfaced. We bought the front and rear pieces from Langs, which are rough castings that also needed to be machined and fitted to the base.

Not only is that switch to high but the hole is too big. I’ve seen too many people get in there and push the switch sideways as they’re pushing it down and that messes the switch up

I believe Tony used a brush from McMaster-Carr. Item #65705K48. A word of warning. If you can feel the edge of the contacts in the housing, it needs to be remachined. If not the brush will wear very quickly.

I talked to Bill Howe yesterday. He said Stan had an enormous amount of T parts, with some included in each sale. The third sale will be mostly T parts. They will help with shipping items you buy. He also informed me that the MTFCA Museum will be getting Stan’s private collection of rare T items. Ca...

Re: Slightly Loose Felloe
I have fixed this problem like several of the others by using a roll of veneer from Lowes that has heat activated glue on one side. Use an iron to apply the veneer and hold it to the fellow. The heat from the rim will set the glue when shrunk onto the fellow. Truing the rim and installing the rivets...

I agree with Tim that the TW timer is an excellent timer. However you need to watch that overtime the softer plastic between the contacts can wear down and that will leave a sharp edge on the metal contacts. When you clean your time or if you can feel that sharp edge you need to have the inside of t...

Most small engine carburetors that I ever worked on had a small spring that would I have the float help pull the needle down. Just curious after you drill the hole in the seat bigger how do you polish the edge so that the needle seats good
