Differential oil measurement

Today, I changed out the oil in my T differential. The Ford manual says not to overflow. About an 1 1/2" is about right below the import hole. I used a white clothes hanger end to measure. There has to be a better way? Mine is a 1920 T. Thanks all!

The free start is always sweet, though the Mrs. doesn't always share my jubilation. The sign of a well tuned T. I get quite a few, though I can't take any of the credit. The T came to me well tuned.

Mark, you bet! I have gone to the museum since about age 7. Visited Fonthill earlier this summer, and was there once when I was a kid. This summer was the trifecta! Definitely the coolest 😎 places on earth.

I think we have met. I have followed your posts, videos and FB stuff.

Model T engine put to good use...

We were at Mercer Moravian Pottery and Tile Works Museum in Doylestown, Pa. today. As we were heading down the staircase toward the kiln area, my eye was caught by this Model T Ford engine sitting on a little makeshift chassis. I have seen videos and pictures of how farmers and sawmill folks hooked...

My stupid mistake of the week...

Had a great morning with the 1920 Roadster. I had the top up, then folded it down so that I could roll the T under the carport. All was going well when I couldn't figure out why the T wasn't rolling any more. Looked up and realized I hadn't folded the windshield, either. The carport doesn't have mu...

Re: horn problem

I spoke to Bill's wife about two weeks ago. Bill also has retired from the horn repair business. As an aside, sometimes it's just easier to look for another one. Many old horns are so rusted, getting into them in the first place is a Herculean task without damaging the shell unless you have several...

I have a magneto horn.
I need someone to look at it, specifically to be able to get inside, without me damaging it due to rusty screws, etc.

By the way, I contacted both places this weekend. Both are no longer in business.

My stupid electrical question of the day...

Okay. Other things have come up this spring and have not devoted too much time to the T in the past month or so. I have been nibbling around the edges on my magneto horn, but want to get a question resolved. If I run a ground wire from the horn to the frame, will I screw up the magneto in any way? ...

Magneto cutting out

Of late, when I switch from battery to magneto, the engine stops running. I know the magneto itself is good. Re: Do you register your old plates?

In Pennsylvania, yes. I bought two identical Pennsylvania 1920 plates on Ebay, so was not too concerned if someone else was using the same tag number. I ran a check in any event on our Department of Transportation website. I also restored mine to appear as they would have in 1920. I had a sign pain...
