Re: Simmons Vaporizer Carburetor

You help is great. I am just starting to look at restoration of my Simmons. I know it worked before the car was disassembled. My dad helped the previous owner and had already replaced the needle as I remember it. I am curious about the thermostatic wire at the top of where it connects to the intake ...

Yes it is the same guy. He was also involved in some other car companies.

Owen Dyneto electric wiper

The ‘27 Tudor I am working on had an accessory Owen Dyneto Series B electric windshield wiper. From what I have read, this model closely resembles a patent I found from 1926. I know that Dyneto was used on some Model “A” cars in 1929 but it was not the same style as what I have. I would be intereste...

Re: Rear inner brake band help

George. At this point i am re-doing all the work that was done before I got the car. The previous owner was a very good friend but had no mechanical skills at all. He now has advance dementia and so I am completing the car on his behalf. Both my dad and I helped him a lot over the years, but he ofte...

Re: Rear inner brake band help

Thanks

Rear inner brake band help

I am examining everything the previous owner did while restoring a 1927 Tudor When looking at the rear emergency brake, I found several rivets that were bent and dragging on the drum. But i was more taken by the direction of the rivets. Instinctively I would have wanted to put the rivets in the othe...

1927 Tudor comes to its new home

I have been given the opportunity to finish a project started by a good friend whose health has severely taken its toll on him. I am, by far, not new to the Model T having worked on my first one over 50 years ago. He was a wonderful man, but mechanical work wasn’t his greatest gift. I got through sc...

Re: Enclosed Trailer Dimensions

A antique car mechanic, much smarter than me, cautioned against “over building” the trailer. Very heavy duty axles and suspension mean a harder ride for the car. Torsion axles help. He tied his brass car and arrived at the destination with the spoke wheels having broken and his car on the ground. Ha...

Second question on the “you know better” rear differential

The previous owner did not have a mechanical bone in his body but he had a wonderful heart. My dad and myself walked him through everything he did, or worked with him on it side by side. We instructed him on assembling the rear differential. Afterwards we went over it again specifically asking him i...

Transporting new ‘27 chassis home

My dad and I used to say to each other: “your just trying to talk yourself into something” even when we know better. I want to bring my new IKEA ‘27 home. Especially the chassis so I can get started. (The previous owner and my good friend developed dementia and is in a memory unit) You can’t really ...

I am unclear as to why he just doesn’t submit the form and get a duplicate title. It is an easy process.

I might add that it appears you have a starter which wouldn’t have been original in 17 i don’t believe. But of course it could have been updated at a restoration

Re: Muncie parts

I hadn’t thought of that but it makes sense. Everything has to be vented or it will pressurize and leak. I would be interested in pictures as it sure sounds like you did the right thing.
thanks

Muncie parts

My new ‘27 has a Muncie (and yes i have RM brakes). I don’t know yet from his notes if he has had any work done on it though I may find out as I work my way through his meticulous notes I may learn something. In particular I am curious about the types of seals that can be used on each end. I assume ...

Re: Simmons Vaporizer Carburetor

Hey all, its ok, no problem. I am far from stupid but not half the expert of many i have known. In this case it is a vaporizer. From what you have said so far, there are not many interchangeable parts on it. Years ago, before the previous owner tore it down, my dad had to repeatedly work on the Simm...

Simmons Vaporizer Carburetor

I have been looking for information on the Simmons Vaporizor carb #2042. My new 1927 Tudor (nearly totally disassembled) has a Simmons carburetor. The bowl seems nearly identical to a Holley but so far I have had no luck finding a source for parts. I haven’t dug into the attic to see what I have in ...

Re: 1927 Tudor followed me home

There are new Rocky Mountain brakes I had previously installed for him several years ago. But I am with you on the rear axle. years ago i snapped my pinion gear on my ‘15 going down a hill when I applied the brake to stop for a major stoplight (i don’t have AC brakes on it) Luckily the traffic was l...

1927 Tudor followed me home

I am beginning to bring home a 1927 Tudor. Some years ago I helped the owner with a lot of his restoration but he was unable to finish it. I am not new to the “T” as in the 70’s I worked with my father restoring a 1927 Coupe and then more recently worked with him on a ‘15 runabout which I still own....
