Bent Axle
I recently discovered that I have a slightly bent axle on the drivers side of my ruxtell. I had the rear jacked up to more easily crank start and I noticed a little wobble. It isn't horrible but it is noticeable. It may have been like that for ages and I can't think of anything that could have cause...

First, I want to sing the praises of the MTFCA and especially Mr. Strickland a nearby member. After the flood I posted that I was in urgent need of someone who could get my Maxwell and take it somewhere to try to get the water out of everything. Mr. Strickland without hesitation came to the rescue a...

Re: Florida and Coastal areas
We were visited today by Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton's V.P. Pick, as he surveyed the destruction in Southwest Virginia. I am definitely not his biggest fan but it was surprising that a fairly famous (or infamous) senator showed up before anyone from our town. After Mr. Kaine had left a group from Ohi...

Hello, We are in Southwest Virginia (Marion) and so far from the coast that I would have never expected to see so much destruction. It is like a horror story. Whole communities washed away. Bridges and roads are gone. Telephones only work now and then and most places still have no power. We were hit...

Does anyone know a source for red wrapped radiator hoses?
I am working on my new 17 Maxwell and am wanting to put new hoses on the car. The one that is on it is an ancient spiral wrapped red hose like a T but these hoses are longer. Re: Are there any rules of thumb on wiring gauges?
I have a couple of possibly stupid questions but I am sure that you all can set me straight. Does the magneto only generate the power to run the engine and the dynamo recharges the batteries and runs the lights? For simply running the car, you have no need of the dynamo being connected to batteries,...

Re: Are there any rules of thumb on wiring gauges?
Tadpole, Thanks for sending the parts list. That is perfect. I am guessing that the total combined voltage for the 4 dry cell batteries would be 6 volts, do you think that is right? Wiring isn't my strongest subject but I am tinkering on my Maxwell and want to do enough temporary wiring to try to get it going before I spend the big money on a correct wiring harness. Re: How many volts output from generator?
I was afraid of that being the case. I had thought that the only reason why it would act like a switch going on and off was because the switch (cutout) was still failing and cutting on and off.

Re: How many volts output from generator?
Update and more questions. I set the third brush so that the car was producing about 6-8 amps at a high idle and both the generator and old cutout seemed to be doing their job. The generator is putting out just over 8 volts and the cutout closes at about 6.5 volts. This evening I took the car out fo...

Re: How many volts output from generator?
Well, I studied up on servicing old cutouts and managed to get it working properly and reinstalled it. Now my generator voltage is running just over 8 volts but now at high idle I am showing a charge of 15 amps. If I remember right it is only supposed to be around 2-3 amps isn't it.

The tubes and flaps are probably sold. There is a man who is supposed to come by on Saturday. If he doesn't show up I will let you all know.

Re: How many volts output from generator?
Since I don't have a variable power supply I just used my battery charger to tinker with the cutout. The points open as they should and snap closed when the 6.75 volts the charger supplies is connected to the cutout. The cutout was a little rusty and was painted under where the screw heads should be...

How many volts output from generator?
My generator wasn't charging so I cleaned the armature and got it going but was surprised when I checked the voltage. I was expecting made 9 volts but it was bouncing between 12 and 14 before the cutout and just over 6 after the cutout. Is it normal to get that much juice out of the generator?

I don't know how to share a link but if you search "model t" carpet it is the first listing. I just came across this carpet on ebay and wondered if anyone has ever ordered one to see if it is any good. It is $22.80 plus shipping so it certainly is cheap enough if it is any good.

I just brought home another T. This is getting to be a habit. Nice car with very few issues but it is my first time owning a car with a ruxtell. WTB usable carpet for 22 Center door
Just thought I would see if anyone might have an old carpet for a 22 Center Door. My old car has pretty presentable upholstery but the carpet has almost gone to dust so I just thought that I would check. It doesn't need to be particularly nice, just not falling apart.

While I am asking the previous question let me ask another, more important question. A friend of mine told me years ago about an unusual car cover that he had had for an A. It always sounded like a good idea and I wondered if anyone has or makes one for a T. What is top speed on TT truck?
I was talking to a fellow today who has double T truck and in conversation I asked what it would run and was told that he could do 40. That can't be right, can it? T trailer FS
The old trailer is ugly but solid. With different wheels stuck on it I towed it home and it pulled smooth and straight. It comes with an old set more 16 inch rims that have T hubs welded on. I have had them on and they run pretty well. I was going to fix it up but I have enough projects. $300

Thanks for the answers so far. I have looked at those manifold type heaters that are similar to those on an A Model. They do work pretty well. We had one on our 29 and it was very comfortable. This visor came off of an unrestored 26 Touring and was probably only the old car for its entire life. It is in very nice condition and complete with original paint and glass. Should I buy a Dodge Brothers?
I have been looking for another T and can't seem to find anything that isn't junk or overpriced in my area. A fellow recently offered me what seems like a fair price on a 23 DB coupe.
