Re: T2508X outer bearing

HI Art, I guess something comparable to the OE in hardness and size. I have read about poor quality bearing sleeves in the past, hardness and or too-thin sleeves being sold and not lasting. This is why I hoped to get good feedback on the Timken setup. Dealing with only used Hyatts and potentially ju...

Re: T2508X outer bearing

So I think the cartridge-style Timkin setup might be ok model t ranch claims to have sold over 1500 with no bad feedback. A feller could machine the lip off and drive it further into the tube to avoid cutting the tube off. With that said, I have decided to run Hyatt's maybe by the time I wear them o...

Re: T2508X outer bearing

I had thought of the driveshaft bearings but haven't seen much come up that was useable. I suppose cutting down a couple standard ones wouldn't be that hard to do. I still need to find some good ones; they seem to be getting harder to come by as well. I wish there was a decent and safe bearing conve...

Re: T2508X outer bearing

Hello, I thought I would resurrect this thread maybe the original poster has been using these for a few years and can offer some feedback. I am considering making a set of these to use on a 1911 Hupmobile rear end that I have modified to run T internals and would like to know if anyone is running th...

Re: A $20 (or less!) DIY regulator, and other issues

While in theory, the 311 should drive the gate I have found that I often need a dedicated gate driver. And 100% agree on oscillation possibility. I always try to keep this stuff simple and then end up with 27 components I never wanted :? I have a spare Tektronix 465 scope but not sure shipping would...

Re: setting up coils on car?

By setting them on the car with a timing light thats what I started this whole conversation about. That's an interesting coil box.

Re: A $20 (or less!) DIY regulator, and other issues

Nice start Luke, You might add a decoupling capacitor or two those 3205's and the 311 comparators can get picky with the power supply. Maybe the fet is spending too much time in the linear range.

Re: OT But what is it for?

Sylvania or at least Sylvania branded tube is that a marking in the glass I see on the transformer side or just dust/reflection? some tube sites can help identify the year of the tube might help somewhat although I suppose an older tube could have been put in at some point or of course a newer tube....

Re: setting up coils on car?

Jab35, I don't know and this is any kind of a gold standard and I certainly don't take credit for discovering it I'm sure plenty of people have played around with this maybe they just have not posted it in a forum. You do bring up another variable I hadn't considered the steel coil box. I had planne...

Re: A $20 (or less!) DIY regulator, and other issues

Matt bought up buck converter's i tried to modify one for field control on a generator but it did not like remote sensing. If it was set up for remote sensing when made it would probably work fine but those get expensive and i had a hard time even finding anything off the shelf.

Re: A $20 (or less!) DIY regulator, and other issues

I think a 6 volt Delco 3-element generator regulator could be made to work on a T. It would be necessary to disconnect the T gen's internal field ground and bring it out to an insulated terminal added to the T generator case. Connect this wire to the field terminal on the Declo regulator. Connect t...

Re: setting up coils on car?

Everyone seems to be on to what I was suggesting, cool I did try a timing light today I didn't try it on the 6volt I just hooked it to my 12volt jump box as a power source. It worked fine I made a quick mark on the pully and it was very steady. I did not set up a pointer yet so did not check consist...

Re: A $20 (or less!) DIY regulator, and other issues

I have been thinking about this since I brought my latest T home the cut-out died that day so I gutted it and found a couple of 20 amp diodes I had laying around and stuck them in parallel under the factory cover for a quick fix and have been thinking about a field style regulator ever since. Maybe ...

Re: setting up coils on car?

The OP proposes a very logical and straight forward approach to adjusting coils in car for optimal overall engine performance. All variables contributing to ignition timing variation are present (spark plug gap, timer housing to CAM misalignment, timer contact to timer contact variation, and of cou...

Re: Sediment bowl broken off in my '26 gas tank

can you tap the broken part to the closest bolt size then thread in that size bolt with lots of red Loctite come back later and unscrew the whole mess? It has worked for me in the past. Or tap it to a smaller pipe size and leave it in there use an adaptor to get back to the correct size if you think...

setting up coils on car?

I have read the never-ending debate of what coil set up device works best so I don't want to start another one of those discussions. It seems the goal is to get them firing at the same time so that cylinder to cylinder timing is correct and drawing close to the correct amps. Why could you not set th...

First Model T anyone know the car?

Hello Everyone, I just registered so I could post about a T that I received I have the option to buy it I am planning on doing that the other option was to get in running and sell it and we split the money over a certain amount. But after getting it running and driving it I think I'll keep it. 22 ye...
