Re: Tightening head bolts and gasket protocall
After reading about the difference between the front and back of the head gasket, I walked out there and stared at it some more. Sure as the world, the coolant passage in the back is a little bigger than the one in front. And yup, the passage through the gasket is also bigger on one end. Here's the ...

Re: Tightening head bolts and gasket protocall
It's in the engine Book. But here is a video of what we did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p220qHzTJRw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8jDPK04Cgk Using the torque wrench. We did 20 then 30 then 55 pounds per the book. After you run the car you will have to torque them again. Make sure that you c...

Fan Belt and Oil questions
Thanks for the advice so far on my '26(25) Touring that I inherited. One thing I need for sure is a fan belt. The old one was hanging in shreds, and besides, I removed the old plugged up water pump that my dad put on there, so I don't have a comparison. I'm assuming I can put on one of those modern ...

Re: I need a battery
...Lithium ion batteries seem wonderful right up until you see how many of them catch fire and can't be extinguished... Not all lithium-based batteries are the same and should not be confused for each other. I suggest that, when looking for replacement lithium vehicle batteries, you consider LiFePO...

Re: I need a battery
A lot of great replies here! All good advice, I think Thank you for that.
I generally tend to stay pretty original with old stuff, so it looks like I'll be going to have a talk with the folks over at Tractor Supply.
Again, Thanks.
Cheers.

I need a battery
What's the going wisdom about 6 volt batteries these days? Lots of motorcycle collectors I know are transitioning to lithium batteries, Light, leakproof, work well in warm weather, etc. Is there a good lithium option? My worry is that a regular lead-acid unit will just not take kindly to my sporadic...

Re: Rusty pan
I have had amazing results with a rusty motorcycle tank by using plain old white vinegar from costco. A couple of days with that, and there was zero rust left.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Re: New-ish guy
Thanks for all the support, fellas. Makes me feel very welcome! Yes, I'm aware that I have a '26 model, but it was first registered in 1925, so its Arizona title says it's a '25. Like I said, my dad worked on it quite a bit, so he's the one who put on the wire wheels, the wooden ones are still here,...

New-ish guy
Hi all. I've been lurking here for a while now, reading and learning. I inherited a '25 Touring car back in 1999 when my dad passed away. He had bought it as a retirement project, then burned out on it before he even retired, leaving it driveable, but only partially assembled. All the parts are ther...
