I’d start with the chapter listings in both the MTFCI and MTFCA magazines, find the closest one to Sherman and get in contact with them. If the closest can’t help, work your way out.

On my way to a Fourth of July celebration in a town 37 miles away, I went past 1000 miles of (mostly) trouble-free driving this calendar year, over 900 of which have been since late April. :)

I’ve also read that the grooves in the gearcase to limit shaft rotation are different between the 4:1 and 5:1 units.

I drove Bonnie to an open house at the Warbirds of Glory Museum, which is restoring a B-25J recovered from a sandbar in Alaska. There were several “Rosie the Riveters” in attendance and one graciously agreed to pose with the car.

Keith, the second diagram you posted appears to show a solenoid type common in aircraft “master” relays, and sometimes starter solenoids. When I installed one of the magneto-located oilers, I had to re-bend the timer rod to clear the front bearing bolt. It took me 5-6 iterations to get the rod to clear the bolt AND have the timing correct.

A model T coil fails and you have 3 more to get you to a good place to swap it out, or if you have a spare within arm’s reach, you might even be able to effect a repair without stopping. A coil on a distributor fails, and you’re dead where you stand until you replace it.

My 24 touring turned 100 in February. I got the centennial badge, but I’m still looking for long #6(?) brass screws to attach it. Alternatively, I’m thinking about attaching it to the front license plate holder since Michigan doesn’t require a front plate.

I remember riding in one of several White Tour Busses up the Going to the Sun Road to Glacier National Park in 1995. At that time they had just been retrofitted with modern running gear, but looked pretty much original from the outside. I seem to remember being told they were 1937 models.

Jerry and others were right; the issue wasn’t carbon tracking. The orientation of the #3 terminal on the timer was such that it contacted the cam gear cover. Thank you Steve, I’ll do a visual check, but my ohmmeter (on a 20-ohm setting) showed an open circuit from all primary terminals to ground.
