Re: Prus head is on and TESTED.
First of all I need to make a correction on my “interference” problem with the Prius head. This was a newby operator problem as I did not have the head centered over the pistons, after correcting this no more interference. So all this started because I had water in my oil because of head corrosion o...

Based on an online compression ratio vs PSI calculator you should get around 115 PSI for an 8:1 ratio
75 PSI is more likely to result from a 5 to 1 ratio

Re: Missing valve clip
The valve was no longer centered due to lack of clip and in turn it would no longer rotate in the valve body
Did have a stove pipe, since it is upstream not sure it affects anything
I will take the carb apart, nothing to loose with doing that
Thanks

Re: Missing valve clip
I am not looking for clip for reuse, I already ordered new ones from Langs I am still amazed how we can just order replacement parts for 100 year old cars, we are so lucky My concern is that the old clip, or parts thereof are finding their way somewhere they can do damage such as valves Nothing foun...

Re: FS - left side mount belt drive alternator
Ordered 12 volt version from EBay, very good price
Excellent product and mounting hardware, simple to install
It is a 2 wire compact alternator, one wire for battery positive, one for switch on position
For my 1915 needed a 34” belt.

Re: Left hand thread vs right hand thread on front hubs
First of all this car is no trailer queen, but a very nice driver, need to sand and redo the wooden box and fix paint in a couple of places. Talked to previous owner and the wire wheels been on this car for 7-8 years on many tours without any issues. I have only owned this car since October and have...

Understand your concern Dan, I will take them apart as soon as I resolve the front hub issue.
Car came with another complete set of artillery type wheels, very nice wood but tires old and worn.
Tires on the wire wheels are very new and little wear, so that why they are currently mounted on car

Re: Left hand thread vs right hand thread on front hubs
You guys are correct the pin on the hub goes through the hole in the wheel and prevents the two from slipping relative to each other My buffalos has something similar where there are recesses in the wheel for the 6 mounting nuts that hold the hub to the spindle The buffalos also use the same hubs on...

Re: Left hand thread vs right hand thread on front hubs
Missed picture of hub and castle nut holding it in place After reading Dan’s. Post and browsing the Jaguar E-type forum where the E uses knock off wire wheels there seems to be agreement that the the hubs with the right hand thread for the hubcap should be on the left, or drivers, side and the hub w...

Re: Left hand thread vs right hand thread on front hubs
Wow what a great a great set of replies thanks for all of your input My front wheels have a separate set of hubs which hold the bearings and this hub, without wheel, is put on the spindle and held in place with castle nut and a cotter pin. No problems there The wheel is then put on over the hub, the...

Left hand thread vs right hand thread on front hubs
Still new to this hobby. Just finished regreasing my front wheel bearings. Went for a test ride today and right front threaded center hub which holds on my wire wheels had loosened up after about 4-5 miles Fortunately I stopped before it came off completely. I had used a 5 pound sledge hammer on a 1...

Re: What have you done on your T in February
Newbie here, picked up a 1915 express a few months ago, overall in very nice shape, but it did not want to drive in a straight line nor handled bumps very well in front. So took full front end apart added shims, new bushings, adjusted clearances, regreased bearings and ball ends, and adjusted toe-in...

Re: Membership Challenge--Teach a new T driver.
Our local auto museum, California Auto Museum, usually has a once a year learn and drive a T day with the local T club providing a couple cars and teachers. That is where I first drove a T, I gave myself a failing grade because I kept putting the clutch pedal to the floor when stopping. Only slightl...

Re: Wire wheel hubcap identification
Thank you gents for all of the feedback
I am inclined to believe the hubs are custom made and I will find someone with lathe etc to make me a new one
I will go ahead and start using locktite on all of my hubs as I also lost a much more complicated hub on my 28 Buick
