Re: 14 mm Spark Plug Recommendations?
Since the head is not standard,It would not be judged as "original" so it really doesn't make a lot of difference if you have the thumb nuts. You can put the spark pug wires from the coils directly on the top of the spark plugs and screw on those connectors. It will hold the wires just fine. I have...

Re: 14 mm Spark Plug Recommendations?
Hey Rick... Are you using adapters to use with the 14 mm plugs?..,.. or can you use the regular plugs ? Hi Bob: It's great to hear from you. I'm using an aftermarket 14 mm head. I do have some standard Ford heads on hand, but I'm trying to avoid "mission creep." I just want to get my car back to ru...

Re: 14 mm Spark Plug Recommendations?
Thanks for all of your replies! To clarify a little, I need 14mm plugs that have the old-style threaded stud or removable nut type terminal on top. I don't want to have to change all my spark plug wires too. Oddly enough, plug manufacturers (and retailers) don't seem to put this info into product de...

14 mm Spark Plug Recommendations?
Greetings Friends: My 1923 touring car has a modern head with 14 mm spark plug holes. I'm having some ignition problems, and since I last changed the plugs 15+ years ago and the car has been driven a lot, I think it's time to for a new set of plugs. The car currently has Bosch FR9 HP (R3 488) Platin...

Re: WTB - Crankshaft
Hi Greg: Yes, that certainly is a possibility. Or was until recently. I don't have first-hand knowledge of the subject, but it used to come up on the regular Club Forum from time to time. I do know that getting any kind of machine work done has gotten harder over the last twenty years. Perhaps the e...

WTB - Crankshaft
Greetings Friends: I'm a little ways into the delayed rebuild of the motor for my '23 touring car. I wanted to use the same crankshaft (it's still "standard," incredibly), but my machinist just called to tell me that it failed the magnaflux test. Uh-oh. So, now I'm in search of a good crankshaft. An...

Water Jacket Crack Advice
Greetings Everyone: RE: Water Jacket Crack - I've just started rebuilding what appeared to be a good '23 block to replace the tired engine in my '23 touring car. Yesterday my machinist discovered a fine crack in the water jacket area of this "new" block. It is in that "classic" spot on the lower lef...

Cleaning Up Sodium Silicate Dribbles?
Good evening Folks: Well, for years my '27 block has had a gentle, intermittent coolant "weep" around the upper water jacket, left side. And about every five years I take the antifreeze out and run water with a little "Water Glass" (sodium silicate) and - problem solved for another five years. Howev...

Re: Front Hub Bearing Cup Inserter?
Thanks gentlemen! These are all fine and helpful ideas. I may have to combine several of them! I've been maintaining my Model T for about 20 years now, and one thing I've learned is that sometimes the "looks simple" jobs (like putting in bearing races) can be the most troublesome. So I certainly app...

Front Hub Bearing Cup Inserter?
Greetings Friends: I have the occasion to put new bearings into my newly restored front wheel. It's a driver's side wheel, and I have the correct side races ("cups") and bearings from Timkin. My question: Reading up on the job in the Ford Service manual (p.175), there is a special tool shown for pre...

Wishbone Ball Cap Stud Sizes?
Greetings Friends: Can anyone tell me the bolt size / thread sizes of the "wishbone" ball cap bolt (stud)? I can't find this info searching here, or the web, or my various manuals and catalogs. I've attached a picture from one of the vendors just to be clear about the part I'm referring to. I'm part...

Re: In Honolulu looking for Ts
There is at least one Model T in Honolulu - a green 1916 depot hack. I've seen it driving around the Waikiki area several times. And it's currently listed for sale in Hemmings: https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/ca ... 26759.html
Happy New Year.
