Find the 'Ford'
It's always fun, to me, when working on the T, to look for where there is 'Ford' stamped into each and every part. I thought this would be a fun thread to have, posting pictures of all the 'ford's on our Fords. :) Here's one, on a rear axle shaft. Where's the ford on your car? 20250701_175001.jpg

Re: Bought my First T
Welcome to the affliction! The T uses a VERY thick rear end 'grease'. It is practically a hybrid between grease and oil. It is 600wt gear oil. The modern oils from the vendors (langs, snyders, chaffins, etc) are the closest thing to what it originally was. You're not wrong, it is practically like gr...

I have a roadster body already for it, and will be removing and saving the existing body.
I have the same feelings. I do not want to cut up the body. It is a nice body and will be saved!

Thanks guys.
My plan is to first get the car running. When we ran it a few years ago, it was mixing oil and antifreeze bad. I'm hoping that it is just a head gasket, but we'll see. If I can get the car to at least run and drive that would be great.

Wooden wheels are very strong, but only when they are tight. I would HIGHLY recommend checking the front wheels too! Wood wheels are strong front to back, but side to side, if loose, they can collapse. Being the steering wheels (quite literally) they take a lot of side load going around corners. Now...

Hopefully, its been that big since it froze, and I dont have to worry about it getting bigger.

Re: Refinishing a set of wheels, my experiences
I began by removing the tires and wheels from the car. I took out the inner bearings with a punch and a tap of a hammer. I them removed the outer hub plates from all four wheels. I wanted to clean and inspect them, remove the races and paint them anyway. I removed the hubs by tapping on the ends of ...

Refinishing a set of wheels, my experiences
I recently got done refinishing my wheels on my 22 touring. For the most part, I enjoyed the process. It presented a few challenges, but I learned some things to do, and not do when I do it again. I decided I wanted to refinish my wheels not too long after I got the car and began working on it. The ...

Re: Model T. transformation video?
Interesting, the first car looks a lot like a T that was on (auction?) Not too long ago. Note the ragged top, solid tires, and square radiator.

WTB valve and 2 spokes FOUND
WTB standard stainless valve with T spring keeper hole, not modern style. Only need One. They're temporarily out of stock. Also WTB 2 spokes for a wooden wheel. 5/8 tennon. They're temporary on backorder. New, or useable original would work. https://www.modeltford.com/item/3052SS.aspx valve https://...

Thank you all for your help and ideas I looked at it closer and found that one of the rivets indeed has a larger head and a cut out on the angled bracket, I popped that off with a ball peen hammer and it folds right up now! :) Now why didn't I notice this before when I was sandblasting it... ...

Re: Does this style of luggage rack fold?
I looked at that thread and noticed that the style they mentioned had a cut out latch on the Triangular side. This style does not have such a latch. I wonder if it is homemade?
It looks to me that it is completely riveted together.

Re: Exhaust could use your hot opinions
I had the same issue with my car when I first started running it. My exhaust pipe would glow red after only a few minutes of running. I was running the car to lean and my timing was off. After fixing those things it did not glow anymore. In the meantime you should be able to set a world record for h...

Thanks all for the ideas and advice. I'd respond to everyone, but that would take a while! I dont want to leave my rear en...

Wow. Just, wow....
It's a miracle that Steve survived. The car, serves a warning to us all that no matter what we do, or how careful we are, this can still happen.
Glad the car is headed back home. It looks in pretty sorry shape, but a few things look ok. It took one heck of a hit, thats for sure.

Disc Brake precautions
Hi all. I have decided that I am going to install a set of disc brakes on my 22 touring. I've decided that being able to stop better in my mind is better than going 100% original. I know that this can be a controversial topic, like alternators, oil and waterpumps, but it's not invasive to the car, a...

When you heated the hub, it expanded outward and inward. Then when you quenched it with water it will shrink more than it was before you started. Since it is a double-sided surface similar to a pipe, the outside diameter gets smaller, and the inside diameter gets bigger due to the wall thickness sh...

In the future I suggest you try another method or punch them out from the other side. I would get a new hub. There are a lot of available hubs out there. I did try to get to the bearing with a punch. I could get to one side, but not the other, due to the way my hub was machined, even with the slot ...

I was removing my front hub bearing cups, the large one came out alright, but I had quite the time removing the outer cup. It had a good amount of small pits in spots. I ended up using a hub puller that I temporarily dissassembled to make fit in the hole to pull it out. I heated the hub up and quenc...
