Re: Diagnosis of charging problem
Thank you very much, and particularly thank you speedytinc for ways of testing to isolate the problem. Our T has two ordinary type 65 6 volt batteries that normally operate in parallel, A pair of relays, controlled by the starter switch, connects them in series for the few seconds that the starter i...

Diagnosis of charging problem
I need some help - I'm not much on Model T charging circuits. Our 1924 T has two 6-volt batteries, and runs on six volts. She always runs on the battery, my not yet being ready to tackle the non-functioning magneto circuit. She is starting and running well, but the ammeter reads negative about 5 amp...

Re: 6/12v series parallel circuit
I forgot to mention that in order to prevent feeding 6 volts continuously to the starter, the 12v needs to be run back through the unused NO relay contacts. In my arrangement, all the current carrying wire is 2 gauge fine standed and the control wire 10 gauge. I'm using a six volt starter, but feedi...

6/12v series parallel circuit
The tech "Steve" at Texas Industrial Electrics has come up with a less expensve and rather ingenious circuit for starting with 12v while running on 6. Yeah, in a perfect world I would keep my 1924 T on six volts. Difficulty keeping all the contacts beautiful in a Florida salt spray environment led m...

Re: outside of track measurement
First, I want to thank all of you for the heads up on the height of the windshield. That had not occurred to me. As near as I can measure from the pictures, the top of the windshield is 80 inches above the ground. That means a special order trailer, about double the cost, and more windage, which is ...

Re: outside of track measurement
Thank you, Terry. I've got a lot to learn here. I'm used to antique motorcycles, but not cars. It's a regular chassis, and is open with a simple box body and no doors, but the height of the windshield may be an issue. The previous owner tells me that it is removable. The trailer is 72" wide with the...

outside of track measurement
Newbie here. Just purchased a 1924 "depot truck." I'm trying to reinforce the ramp and floor of a covered trailer to bring our prize back to it's new home, and don't know the outside and inside of the track. The previous owner is not available. The track itself is 56 inches, but how wide are the tir...
