Hello,
I need another 1912 front fender iron. Preferably the one with the eyelet or no cutout at all (i.e. I'll drill it myself)
If you have one, please let me know. Thanks!

Many are just fabricated without exact spec in mind… and the dimple is off. 2. Hole position. There are left/rights . Axles turn opposite the bearing...

Re: 3 to 1 Ring Gear Shim Experience Question
After reading how people replied to my post I went and measured the new bearings that they suggest from the parts dealers. What I found was actually shocking. Both measured 0.124 I guess I'm the sucker for buying the new stuff? The extra 0.08 would definitely let it clear the housing and keep it cen...

3 to 1 Ring Gear Shim Experience Question
Hello, I am in the process of rebuilding my rear differential which I decided to move to a 3to1 gear ratio. I placed one half of the differential case, plus two thick washers and 1 modern bearing on the drivers side and turned it to see how it did without ring gear shims. It is rubbing. Not by much....

Marshall's Locksmith

will cut you a new key for a globe toolbox without an original. The price was $68 , 3 keys. Each key was $8 each. $44 for 44 minutes worth of debug. Definitely worth it!

What size deck hole???
In my zeal to replace the rotten steel on my 1912 torpedo i forgot to measure the hole under the tank. Is it a 3.5” hole or 4” hole in the rear deck? Can someone measure theirs for me? Also, What were the screw holes for? Im thinking someone made a blocking plate and put a truck bed on it at one poi...

How much clearance?
How much clearance should there be between the rod cap and the crankshaft lobe? Skat crank has tight tolerances!!! Old cranks dont have this issue… lots of slop between journal lobes.

Re: Measuring piston clearance after rebore
Ok…. Now I’M frustrated! So which way do i go? Is there more to this story? Am i going with too much clearance at .004? I feel a revision of my table coming on….. lol. No offense to anyone else, but I'm going with what the machine shop said. It's a no brainer.... get your engine cleaned, radiator cl...

Re: Measuring piston clearance after rebore
So you’re saying the piston can come from the manufacturer STD as 3.748 (-.002 ) and that the bore should be 3.752 (.004) or 3.753 (.005) or 3.754 (.006) …. Right? Table above has been updated!!!!! Again, I think it's preference for .004 vs. .005 vs. .006 so..... Maybe a better question is, "Has any...

Re: Measuring piston clearance after rebore
Its just how people see things Jerry… it doesnt. It’s their opinion or statement in this post or another. So your recommendation is “happy medium.” I assume most will be in that category. Whats really important here is that people understand “clearance” which i believe is bore size minus max piston ...

Re: Measuring piston clearance after rebore
In order for others to be able to go to a modern machine shop and ask for their engine to be bored out to proper specs, I have made a table that I HOPE brings together everybody's thoughts on what the proper CLEARANCE should be for a model T engine. Can someone please look at the table and comment o...

Re: One Man Top Sockets (Square)
john boorinakis 530-885-4956 if you're in a pinch he can do the sockets. he will not repair the hardware though... so, you probably need to weld and repair that before you send him the sockets to be restored. He's 3X what he used to be... It cost me $1200 for 1912 sockets. In 2010 it was $450.

Re: 1912 Clamshell issues
Where do you find the round (cold rivet) headed bolts to screw the torque tube onto the clamshell housing? I see Round hex drive bolts but not the others. I guess i could fill the hole with bondo to look round afterwards. There are other issues with the backing plate needing a repair where the paddl...

1912 Clamshell issues
Hello, I have two issues that i ran into after purchasing this 1912 clamshell at Luray, Va. 1. Small crack across rivet hole on the pumpkin not on the torque tube. 2. Brake flange at other end is at .98” depth instead of .8125” Here are some pics: IMG_1074.jpeg IMG_1076.jpeg After looking at everyon...
