When generators are rebuilt, standard practice is to fit modern sealed bearings and the oiler is no longer necessary, A set screw can be used to plug the hole, or the oiler can be retained for looks.
If you search for Tire Valve Fishing Tool, you should be able to find one pretty easily at auto parts stores, tractor supply, etc. Slime is a common brand.
That tool is also useful for getting things things lined up when installing a tube in a split rim.
If your car has a starter, might have better luck removing the bendix & starter and fishing in thru there. I know that worked better for me than trying to work around the bands and drums.
If you have a reproduction pack nut, the factory wrench may not fit. I've run across several of the reproductions that were at least a 1/16" oversize, the ones that are more simply machined without bevelled corners tend to be the worst.
I just bought two 440/475 21" tubes last month from Summit Racing, they were identified as Coker on their website but Hartford is what showed up. For what it's worth, I weighed both the Hartford Tube and an old Ward's Riverside Made in USA tube, the Hartford tube was a little heavier, so at least th...
Question - did you jack the front of the car up when you drained the oil? If not, you want to do that before you pull the cover. There is like half a quart of oil in the pan dips, it is a lot less messy when you can get as much out as possible ahead of time. It is probably still going to be messy. A...
Scrap of safety wire or cotter pin? Especially if recent transmission work was done, that would also explain what appears to be brass particles in the last photo you posted.
My post is not AI, I typed it myself and did not copy from or consult any AI tools. Maybe it is just my writing style. I was attempting to clarify why Tom V. was suggesting the coil wires be reversed. The "20%" in Tom V's post refers to the potentially weaker spark when the high tension current flow...
Tom... Could you give a little bit more help on that... Explain your procedure and supplement with pictures if possible. Thanks. I believe he is referring to the preference to arrange the high-tension polarity such that electrons flow from the spark plugs central electrode to the grounding electrod...
Have you checked the floor cossmember, just forward of the support rail for the seat? Most coupes I have seen have a body number stamped there. The body number was put in by the plant that built the body, and is unrelated to the engine/ frame number.
I checked mine yesterday after a morning drive. My car also has the Sure-Stop disc brakes, which got used plenty. Temperatures measured using a cheap laser thermometer.
So-called "natural" wheels have become very popular in recent years. That's pretty much a modern fad. I prefer to paint my wheels, as God and Henry intended. :) 1925-1927 21" wheels were available in natural finish, they are in the parts books and encyclopedia. So that would be one correct option f...
This car had incorrect spindles from earlier car, then you replaced with the proper 1926-27 ones which lowered the axle, correct? Was the wishbone also replaced or the mounting ears bent to compensate? Is this what your talking about? To compensate for the early perch with over the axle wishbone? A...

I've just tried a bunch of searches and it definitely is coming back. Starting to get more results that include image thumbnails, and forum posts with actual text descriptions (not just viewtopic URLs). The non-Google search engines I think would eventually have quit just the same. Search companies ...
OK further inspection revealed that the 2 files found in Siteworx were not in the root directory so they should have had no effect. Or put another way act like there was NO robots.txt file. Chris PS I deleted the 2 files just to be sure. I just looked and robots.txt is back to the previous version ...
Ok, I did a little more research and reported what I could. I appreciate that the people running the site are most likely volunteers doing this in their spare time, so I am understanding if this might not get resolved right away, even if they were already aware of it. I also asked if this was done i...
The robots.txt for the site was changed at some point last fall to disallow all automated searches, based on what I could find on archive.org The site administrator will need to update the file for Google searches to work again. It is not a Google issue. The robots.txt could have been changed uninte...
Typically when replacing the old plate glass, only the windshield is laminated safety glass. The other windows are tempered glass, which disintegrates into a zillion small pieces on impact. I've not seen any suppliers selling window glass cut to size. Better to borrow or buy the window glass book pu...
Ears? My Bergs (or original 17 radiator for that matter) did not have the ears you're talking about. The radiator attaches to the frame and the rod from the firewall. The shroud slips over the neck and attaches only to the frame. My Berg’s rad from 2009 had ears for attaching the shroud. 1917 has t...
I am looking for a pair of the shell mounting ears (just the brackets, not an entire radiator), and called Brassworks a month or two ago. They told me they are out of them. Perhaps they are reserving what they have to be included with new radiators, or maybe they are completely out and can't provide...
Well, I checked my car and all 6 screws are missing. Apparently it has been like that since 2009, with nothing but the sliders and friction holding the glass and bottom half of the frame. I suspect the glass shop that did the replacement destroyed the screws trying to get them out, or the glass was ...
Nathan, That is exactly what I need, thanks so much. My engine s/n is 12494960 (Oct. 1925) The frame s/n is 13417658 (March of 26), It also has a number on the cross member of the body in front of the seat (077065 B) not sure what that signifies? I have some red oak that should work nicely.. My 192...
