It is never a good idea to mix and match ring and pinion gears. Always buy them as a set. Re: Carburetor still acting up….

In addition to earlier postings on this subject, I too had carb problems in my “T”. Not knowing what I had for a carburetor, I sent mine to Snyder’s for exchange for a rebuilt one. Turned out I found out mine is a Simmons. They don’t offer that carb at the moment so had to look elsewhere. A Friend t...

Re: Timing

I made my own tension block as the vendors were sold out at the time. It works quite well. The trick is to have just the right tension on the rods and if you have it set too tight you will have problems. Relax your tension a bit. Good luck!

I will have to agree with Allan. I did the very same thing with my ‘24 touring. If they want to break, they will do so at the cut since that is a week point now.

I have been working on my ‘24 Touring this past year and found the front axle bent which I straightened in a press. Also spindle bushings worn badly, so replaced them and reamed to fit new king pins. Also replaced bushings and pins in the tie rod ends and drag link. I found that a little play here a...

I forgot to men to mention, I too bought a new reproduction bottom frame and like I said it fit snug, but that is the nature of the brass pressing against the glass as it goes into the frame channel. Good luck!

I installed new safety glass in my ‘24 touring. I used new original style brass channel strips that you first press onto the sides & bottom of the glass. Then very carefully start the ends into the frame and using a rubber mallet, gently tap on ends of glass. Take to keep the glass going down into t...

Timing issues making red manifold & misfires

Hi everyone, I am having trouble with an Anderson timer which I believe is not advancing enough at higher RPMs. With spark lever fully advanced, the end of commutator rod hits the fan belt. I took off the rod so I could advance the spark more and the engine ran much better leaving me to think there ...

Scott, I clearly understand what you are saying. Today I will take a spare hub to a shop & make bushings to fit both the inner & outer races. With that the hub stays centered nicely. Also will not hold the felloe in place with bolts as it will center itself when pressing. I think I’m on the right tr...

Scott,
You are right in making bushings to push on the races and I have access to a turning lathe to make them. That way I should have zero trouble with keeling the hubs centered & with a little patience, I should get great results. Thank you!

All the pictures & videos I’ve seen show the hubs being pressed with no seals in them. My hubs have new bearings, races, & seals installed. Is there any reason I can’t press these hubs with the inner bearings & seals in place ?
