Didn't find the kind of wheel I'm looking for. Lots of stock wheels though.

WANTED Racing style steering wheel

I'm looking for a steering wheel for my 1926 speedster project as used on racing cars at the time. 4 flat spokes with a hub to fit the Model T steering shaft. Wooden rim preferred. I can purchase and pick up at Hershey. I know it's a long shot but I thought I would try and see if somethings availabl...

Help with Houk wire wheel front hubs

I'm finally getting around to installing a set of Houk wire wheels that I purchased many years ago on my 1926/27 speedster project. There is a shallow cup shaped dust cover that is supposed to be installed on the front hubs and I don't know how it is supposed to be installed. It looks like it goes d...

Wanted 1926/27 nickle plated steering wheel nut

Need a 1926/27 steering wheel nut, nickle plated only. Looking for one with a dull weathered finish to match my steering wheel. New ones in nickle don't seem to be available and would be too shiny for me anyway. Best to contact me via email: eugeneDOTabbondelo@verizonDOTnet (make period substitution...

Re: Composition of steering wheel spokes

Thanks for the info everyone. Hank: what method did you use to bend them? I'm thinking heat with oxy/acet, then gradually press down in a press or with C clamps. I think hammering might break the spokes. I would bend the tips so I can locate it in the center of the rim. This would also take up some ...

Composition of steering wheel spokes

I have a Model T steering wheel with the solid iron spokes, not the stamped steel spokes. Are the solid iron spokes cast iron or cast steel? I'm thinking of bending them straight to make a racing style steering wheel for my speedster project. I understand cast iron can't be heated and bent successfu...

Frontenac valve cover and oiling pad

I have a Frontenac overhead valve conversion on a 26/227 T engine which will go into my speedster project. I noticed in a period ad illustration for the RAJO overhead valve conversion that the oiling pad is secured to the top of the valve cover and there are 2 oiling ports with cups drilled into the...

Yacht Enamel

I'm considering using a paint product used in marine applications for a brush finish on my 26/27 speedster project. Here is the product maker website: http://www.epifanes.com The only downside for me (besides the quality of my brush painting) is that they do not make a low sheen finish--everything s...

Red speedster on Nov/Dec Vintage Ford magazine

Hi all: I just received my Nov/Dec Vintage Ford magazine. I'm intrigued by the red speedster on the back cover and would like to see more photos as I'm in the process of building a 1926/27 speedster. If the owner (Jack Harlan??) is on the forum, could he kindly email me (eugene.abbondelo@verizon.net...
