1915 Model T Speedster $7,600
1915 Brass Model T Speedster. Has 1925 motor with electric start. Runs on 12v battery with a 12v starter (that looks stock) - otherwise car is very much stock (as much as a Speedster can be stock). Photos look better than the car really is. Radiator has pings and dents. Paint has plenty of chips and...

Re: Transmission bands and synthetic oil
5w30, 15w40, 10w30 - all good information, but ultimately I'm curious if synthetic oil lubricates too well causing a occasional band slippage? I don't recall this issue with conventional. It's hard to quantify the occurrence, but this happens randomly on any gear in two of my three Model Ts. If I we...

Re: Transmission bands and synthetic oil
@TRDxB2, I have Kevlar bands and good drums. I believe they have been adjusted correctly. The issue can be on any gear and is very intermittent, normally no issues when driving. I'm experiencing this with my Hack and Touring, but not my Speedster (which I drove about 40 miles yesterday). I have been...

Transmission bands and synthetic oil
I know I'm stirring the hornets nest, but I have a legitimate oil question. Lately I'm finding synthetic oil is as affordable and sometimes cheaper than conventional oil. So in my recent oil change I used 5w30 synthetic (4 QTs for only $8). I seem to recall a passing comment that synthetic can cause...

I just installed mine. I was a little worried about age or cracking as I unraveled the wires, but they appeared fresh as if they were made last week.

Re: About to buy tires - are recent vintage Riversides holding up well?
I installed Riversides on my Tudor about 8 year ago. I believe they were from Vietnam. I added thousands of miles to the tires. No sidewall cracking, good wear.

@TRDxB2, I misread your earlier reply and suggestion to buy a diode.
I'm only getting a cutout with diode. I'm not buying a diode to repair my cutout, but may try to add it to my order and see if I can salvage my old cutout.

Thanks all. Based on the advice, I'm getting a 6v cutout and adding a diode as an extra precaution. I'm finding 6v and 8v regulators are out of stock anyway. I've been in the hobby for 12 years, but I'm always learning. Do I understand correctly my 12v regulator will try to charge my battery until i...

Re: 12v cutout
Appreciate the comments! My generator is set to about 8amps. Apologies for interchanging the terms cutout and regulator! This is an important distinction. Correction, I have a 12v regulator, not a cut out. Noting the correction, it seems option 3, 4, or 5 are my best options. Correct? 1) install my ...

12v cutout
I have a Model T that came with a new 8v battery. The cutout just died and I happen to have a spare 12v cutout. I've been reading past forum posts, but only seem to confuse myself (easy to do). I know options 3 and 4 are the ideal solutions, but can I get away with option 1 or 2 for now? 1) install ...

Thanks Tfan for sharing the photos! As Mark mentioned in the post above, others LEDs are far less expensive, but yours are less noticeable and I hear cast a better light with the Model T reflectors.

Re: LEDs when turned off
Good to know the vertical Ford H lenses cast an odd light. I have a spare set of plain clear lenses, but wouldn't want to install them since the LEDs will be even more obvious when not in use. All good insight. Below is an image I shot last summer when driving home late from work using a standard 6v...

LEDs when turned off
I need to buy new headlights for a 6v system, and I'm leaning toward LEDs. There are plenty of testimonies and photos of Model Ts demonstrating LEDs when on, but how does the Model T look with the lights off? How noticeable are LED lights when turned off? I like the benefits of LED, but I don't want...

Valve pins regularly fail
My Tudor engine was rebuilt about eight years ago to include a valve job. It runs great. At least once every couple years (approx 1,000 miles) a valve pin goes missing causing my T to run rough. Upon inspection, I find that the valve, spring, and spring seats are in good condition, but I'm missing a...

White Tires From Hershey
I need to replace my tires on the hack truck. I bought some great like-new whitewall Firestone tires at Hershey (no cracks, plenty of tread, little age) for next to nothing. My original plan was to place the whitewalls on my Speedster and move the Speedster tires (in great condition) to the Hack. At...

My schedule is really tight, but I'll be driving to Chicago April 30-May 1. I then fly commercial to DC May 21-24. Unfortunately TSA will make me check the coils (they cannot be carried on) and I fear the baggage handlers will not treat the box with care, but its an option.
