Vintage fords featured in a local PA newspaper
159379FA-AD8D-4C99-BAA7-FCB24B717D3D.jpeg Earlier this week someone mentioned in a post that the old cars are getting less and less attention at local car shows. We attended a local car show in Greenville PA and a nearby paper actually featured vintage fords in the picture to go along with their ar...

Re: Who wants to play “Identify this sound” ?
Thanks guys for the advise and words of encouragement! I appreciate all of the help I have received from this forum over the past year. I have met a number of really nice T people who have given me advise and lent me tools, carbs, coils, etc. I met a fellow named Bob P. A couple of weeks ago who gav...

Re: Who wants to play “Identify this sound” ?
Thanks guys for the words of encouragement. It has been a long haul with plenty of disappointments. As soon as I get one thing figured out and fixed another pops up. At this point I have almost doubled my purchase price, and I didn’t get it at a bargain. The few times that we have driven it without ...

Re: Who wants to play “Identify this sound” ?
Scott, I ordered the fun projects pinion bearing assembly. However when it arrived from Snyders, I found that it was not a fun projects assembly. I specifically asked the girl on the phone if that was the one they sold and she replied yes. I used it anyway as it looked just like it and seemed very w...

Who wants to play “Identify this sound” ?
I bought my 27 touring a year ago and havn’t had a moments peace yet. Being new to model T’s the car seemed pretty good but immediately the problems started. I have gone from front to back diagnosing and solving problems, with the help of the ford service manual, a couple of great local T guys and t...

Re: Headlight Wiring Question - Update
Thanks to all who replied! I have received a lot of help from this forum over the past year since I bought my 27 touring. You guys were right on, it was a grounding problem. I learned something very important to pass on to anyone new to this hobby. I had my light bar and headlights off a month or so...

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
Ok, I guess I have it straight. When the high beams are on, that wire should be 6 volt and the other post should be dead. When the low beams are turned on, the order is reversed. How is the bulb socket grounded? If I remember correctly, I only have one cable going to the back of each headlight can w...

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
Am I correct in assuming that when one wire is 6 volts the other should be 0 and when I switch to the other beam they should reverse? Just making sure I understand this correctly.

Headlight Wiring Question
So I went to use the headlights on my 27 touring for the first time yesterday evening, Nothing! When I disconnect the headlight wire from the bucket, one post reads 6 volts and the other has 2 volts (when on high beam). On low beam, one post reads 6 volts and the other is 5 volts. I am assuming one ...

We are sitting in Erie Pa watching the Coast to Coast tour go by. The first 3 cars went through about 9:15. The 4th car (Ford #2) just went by at 10:25.

Re: Ball Joint Gasket Question
It does have the round soft metal shim around the ball also. I just cant figure out the reasoning for 3 gaskets. My fear is that there is a problem that he was trying to compensate for. I am just not sure what that would be or how to identify it.

Re: Ball Joint Gasket Question
That is what Snyders calls it in their catalog. It is the gasket between the back of the pan and the ball cap. The point where the U-joint matches up with the transmission. Round gasket with 4 holes for the bolts.

Ball Joint Gasket Question
Does anyone have a guess as to why my 27 touring would have 3 ball joint gaskets between the pan and ball cap? This has me puzzled!

Re: Front wheel runout question
Hi Allan, My car came with wire wheels. I thought my runout was because of slightly bent wheels so I bought 2 new ones. Aparently my old ones are fine.

Re: Front wheel runout question
Ok, I tightened my bearings and the in/out play in the hub is gone. I also tightened my spindle bolt nuts and the small amount of play in the spindle bushings is also gone. I still have about 1/8 inch runout on my front wheels. I put on 2 new wire wheels and no change. My problem appears to be in th...

Re: Spindle question
I can see just a little wiggle at the top and bottom bushings on the spindle and nowhere else. I don’t know much about it, but it appears that both bushings are slightly worn. Nothing else seems to move. Replacing them seems easy and cheap, except for the tools that I do not have. It seems I would n...

Front wheel runout question
When checking the wobble of my front tires with a square on the floor in front of the bottom of the tires, I get 1/8th inch movement as my wheels spin around. I have wire wheels and thought the movement was from slightly bent wheels, but it is actually from my front hubs. They have a slight wobble a...

Spindle question
I am getting ready for spring and have a spindle question I hope someone can answer. I am checking for looseness in the front end and have a tiny bit of play in my spindle bushings. If I put a square on the floor in front of the bottom of the tire and grab the tire top and bottom to wiggle, I get 3/...

Re: 100 Year Anniversary of the Park to Park Highway Tour
Dean, that was a lot faster than the trip in 1920. I saw a video about the original trip and the roads were horrible and in some places non-existent. I’ll bet you had an amazing time. I would love to take that trip.

Re: 100 Year Anniversary of the Park to Park Highway Tour
Dean, Wow! How many miles did you drive on that trip and how long did it take you.
Steve, who wants to go fast on a trip like that. I would probably spend way too much time in each park.

100 Year Anniversary of the Park to Park Highway Tour
Pardon me if this topic has already been discussed, but has the MTFCA or MTFCI discussed a 100 year anniversary trip retracing the 5600 mile Park to Park Highway tour of 1920? What an amazing tour that would be!! ;) It started in Denver, went through 11 western states, to 12 national parks, took 76 ...
