Re: How many of us ?
Well, my T is the first car/truck that I ever owned. That being said, I got a Ranger and a Celica as my drivers before I ever got the inclination to work on the T and even then, took me over a year to be able to drive it.

Re: Is my starter toast?
Ignacio Here is a photo of the starter fault mentioned by Norman Kling. This is by far the most common failure of Model T starters. It can be repaired by replacing the terminal bolt with a kit available from Lang's Old Car Parts. The kit has a new terminal bolt and buss bar that is silver soldered ...

Don’t know if this has been mentioned or not, but check the starter terminal post. If you can wiggle it with your fingers, the buss bar is probably bad. Just got done fixing mine and that’s what I found

Not sure about the hogshead, but for the starter, I used the stock bolts and tightened them as tight as I could with a flathead screwdriver. Also, I found that for the the transmission cover plate, the best screwdriver for that is one of those lug nut wrenches that have a flat blade on the end to fi...

Re: Steering Column Removal
There should be some images in the service manual showing close up pictures of the column. The timer and gas rods should be straight so the bracket can be pulled off. While your checking things out there is a bushing inside the bracket that probably need to be replaced because of excessive wear ove...

When I was waiting for my wheel rims, I also had a new tank on backorder from months prior. The folks at Lang’s told me that a farmer in Michigan made the oval tanks part time on weekends. When done with a batch, he would then split them between the vendors. Don’t know how true all of that is, but 8...

I got a regular 6v car/tractor battery from NAPA when I upgraded to a starter. The way that I look at it, if the tractor battery dies, I can put it in there to keep me going. I really only installed the starter for people that shouldn’t try to hand crank anyways.

I’d first start by tracing the wires and looking for damage. You can also remove the spark plugs and with the ignition on, turn the handcrank while they are on the block, looking to see if they spark.

John, I have seen Red Kote crack into chips before, but not really sure what caused it. Might be because the tank sat unused as the motorcycle it went to got set to the side without fuel it for a couple years. Still think it’s a good product though

Treating wooden wheels.
Recently, I sent my wheels off to be repoked by Noah Stutzman. Was wondering about the best way to seal them when I get them back. While I know that the purist way is to paint them since they came from the factory that way, I'd rather stain them a walnut color and use sealer. What's the best way to ...

I do not understand the reluctance to buy the pre-mixed green. Is there anything wrong with it?
