Re: 1914 turtle lid pins
The only place I had not looked for the pins was in a box I knew was in the front V section of my enclosed trailer where the body had once been stored. The trailer has been loaded all summer with insulation for my polebarn preventing access. I guess it was time to empty the trailer anyway. TA DA!! I...

Re: Starter switch hot
Do you have a braided ground cable? They lose conductivity and heat up. If you have one check it. Had to replace mine for that reason and the cranking improved. The starter is of course the load but you say it's not getting hot. Right now I'm with wiring/cables. Yes it does have a braded negative c...

Re: Suggested Cherry stain for a brass Model T firewall?
This is a stain made by using one part Windsor & Newton artist oil color and 20 parts mineral spirits. I am just finishing my 1914 firewall and used it on my 1911 seven years ago and it still looks great. It took three coats of stain to get the color I wanted followed by three coats of spar varnish....

Re: Tire spoon protector
Model A tires can be mounted without tools, I just did six using plastic trash bags to make the tire slide over the wheel. You are correct. However in my case, the tires are maybe 30 years old and the I couldn't get the tires warmed up, so they were a bit stiff. I did use the garbage bag method whi...

Re: Tire spoon protector
Model A tires can be mounted without tools, I just did six using plastic trash bags to make the tire slide over the wheel. Model T tires would need the tire irons and would be much more difficult to mount without scratching the paint or powdercoat. I have used duct tape on the irons and still left m...

Re: Using A Brass Plate When Changing Engine Numbers
I agree that the numbers were not all straight, at least in the early years. The freshly painted block is mine and the other one is for sale on Marketplace. Arthttps://www.mtfca.com/phpBB3/download/file.php? ... &id=202923

Russ, There is a B on the seat riser. George, I am glad you noticed the tail light bracket holes. I do not have a bracket and I think the holes should be horizontal like yours. Art

Re: 14 Runabout body question
Thank you for all the responses. I can see the nail holes indicating where the turtledeck floor was nailed to the wood side frames under the turtledeck. I think the biggest challenge is going to be repairing the back of the body where the patch is. I assume the rear should curve into the turtledeck ...

This 22 Touring was picked up today by the owner after some maintenance work was completed. I restored this car two years ago and it needed a broken front spring replaced.

Re: The 2 different 1914 door latch assemblies and why it is important
Corey, I am glad you found the latch to fit the used interior panel you bought from me. I ended up making paper patterns of my right side panel with the latch/handle location and the drivers side panel for Mike at Classtique who made panels that will fit my 14 perfectly. They are being shipped to me...

Re: WANTED - Quality Craftsmen to Build An Early T
It should definitely be bolted together before paint just to line up everything and then taken back apart for painting and finale assembly. I am always amazed that the same parts that came off of a car are so difficult to get to align back up and go back together. From the description this car is va...

Re: 1914 paint
The wood is original and the upholstery did look like it may have been replaced, the seat backrest was made in three pieces, overlapping in the curved sections, as much as I would like it to be blue I will probably paint it black just to be correct. I just find it hard to believe an old repaint woul...
