Re: I am coming after you Steve - to OCF

That young officer was wrong. In Illinois an antique car can be driven with year of manufacturer plates as long as the vehicle has valid current plates and they are in the vehicle. I have verified this several times with various Illinois State Police and IL Secretary Of State Police. Art

Re: trans adjustment

Thanks Steve. I meant no connection, no linkage and no brake rods. I would have thought turning a rear wheel would also turn the engine. I'm sure there is something basic I am just not understanding. Art

trans adjustment

How can the transmission bands be adjusted on a chassis without a body on it? All the posts I have read use the floorboard as a reference for adjusting the bands. I am trying to make sure I have a good running chassis before putting the body on. Also, I have both rear wheels raised and no linkage co...

Re: Initial E-Brake Installation and Adjustment

I am at the same point on my 11. With the lever fully forward where does the pawl end up on the quadrant? I welded and shaped a new tip on mine and it stops on the last or most forward tooth on the quadrant. Should it go beyond that? Also someone has straightened my brake rods. Can someone describe ...

front hub identification

My late Oct 11 built Touring came with restored wheels with two different style front hubs. From reading past posts and an article by Royce I think I have one early hub without a step machined for a speedometer gear and one later with the machined step. I think the non machined one is correct. Would...

Re: Wheel bearings.

it appears that I have two different front hubs. One is of thicker construction with grooves in the inner and outer race areas. The other is of thinner construction, slightly shorter and no grooves and appears to be slightly egg shaped on the outer edge. Both were rebuilt and painted when I got them...

Wheel bearings.

My Oct 11 built Touring came with rebuilt wheels but no wheel bearings. I have read a few past posts about the early hubs being of thinner material and a danger of splitting when roller bearing races are pressed in. Should this be a concern and do you recommend the roller bearings for this applicati...

four new Universal tires

I have four new black Universal T driver tires, two 30/3 and two 30/3.5. The 30/3's came with my 11 project and I just took the wrapping off. The two 30/3.5's were just purchased and delivered two weeks ago. I have decided to go with white tires instead. The price is 145.00 each plus shipping.
