Why does the lower corner pieces (corner pieces below the mounting flats) on New Brassworks radiators have a height of aprox 13/16" compared to an original Brass radiators lower corner piece height of aprox 5/16" ? ?

Re: Model A wire Wheels on Model T wood hubs

There is 1/8" of an inch on both front and back hub to wheel center contact. Hoping this is enough as the fronts will only have two points of contact and the rears will have three (usung 11" T brake drums) like Model As had originally. I considered the support rings all the way around but dont think...

TWrenn, I think you might have the answer. If there is something I want to learn about a "T" I just Google, MTFCA ......... and a thread will come up with some good information previously discussed.

Model T Forums Dead

Is it just that time of year or is the Model T forums dead ? Seems no one is alive in the hobby expressing any enthusiasm or interest in helping others. All clammed up ? What is it... Thousands of people view this and other Model T forums daily and hardly NO ONE has much input on anything. Are their...

Re: Model A wire Wheels on Model T wood hubs

Mark you are very correct about the studs originally being sweged in. I am using entirely different studs front and back and yes they will be welded in place. The shoulders on them are only .25 long as well. I thought about the possibility of having to replace a stud in the rear hubs. if so, I will ...

Model A wire Wheels on Model T wood hubs

Model A rear hubs machined and ready to be welded to Model T rear wood wheel hubs.
The front Model A hubs fit right onto Model T spindles. Only a 1/2" spacer is needed in the front.

The reason I am using Model A wire wheels is availability and cheaper costs.

Re: Radiator repair--Neck loose

Save your time and money. Fix it like the old timers did. Keep your credit card in your wallet. Clean the mating surfaces with muratic acid and use flux, solder, and a propane torch to weld it back. Easy to do.

Re: Ruckstell Bearing/Bronze Plate (P211/P139) Fit

I got one of the new Ruckstell ball thrust bearings from a T vendor recently that fits loose as well. The only made in CHINA part on my T. Is there a shortage on band Material such as Scandinavia ? Is the New Kevlar material good and reliable ? I hear it looks thicker and has a looser weave. Can anyone get a hold of the old Kevlar manufacturer and get some made ? Any insite appreciated.

Thank You Chaffins !! New Ruckstell

Big thanks to Chaffins Garage for all the precision parts it took to completely rebuild a large drum Ruckstell. Simply love it. Quite, smooth, and handy.

Had many Ts, this is my first Ruckstell. Made my T into a completely different animal.

Re: New Pinion Gear With Bore Taper Issues

My bad.. after closer examination, the pinion is not hanging off the outer edge of the ring gear. It is flush.
I have done lots of Ts but never invested so much time and $$ to have a perfect Ruckstell.

All is good and a huge thanks to Chaffins Garage for manufacturing such great accurate parts !!

Re: New Pinion Gear With Bore Taper Issues

Update- I drove new Pinion on snug. It moved the inner bearing sleeve .037 up from the original gear location. Removed the new gear and the contact seemed consistent on the taper. At setup I notice the pinion teeth looks to hang off the ring gear on one end and shy on the other. All the inner compon...

New Pinion Gear With Bore Taper Issues

Just purchased a new 12 tooth pinion gear. The taper bore is .021 larger on the small ID causing a very loose wobbly fit on the original drive shaft taper. The ID of the large end of the bore is the is the same as the originals. The two originals I compared it to have full contact on the taper. The ...

Splash Apron Measurement Needed.

I know this is a strange question to ask. Can a very kind person tell me the length of the longest part (front to back) of a 1912-16 Touring or Roadster splash apron ? I think thows years were the same lenght.
Thanks much in advance.
