One more thought on the sealing of the muncie. I think that my friend also machined the case (cluster shaft) for a seal before machining the end cap and machining the surface for the cap that helped seal the shaft.

I ran a Muncie in my number 28 car for years and had a problem in keeping the gear box full of gear oil. I have a big drum rear end with standard gearing. I can supply it with the correcct drive shaft torque tube and radius rods. Here is my speedster/ race car. It is registered as a 1921. The unique thing about this car is the automatic c4 transmission. It has an early Rajo racing head with out the heat riser. It has a model A full pressure crank and insert bearings.
