Re: Do they make a self advancing distributor?
Car will eventually have an A crank, 28 chevy head 6.5 compression, hp5a carb and custom manifolds with a warford overdrive. Pressure oil is the end goal so I'm hoping to max out rpms at 3000 and no more.

Advice needed: how to moutn 26 27 subframe and body
Hey guys. I'm looking to do a preliminary mounting of my 27 27 Touring pickup body and sub frame to my frame. Just looking to see if you guys have instructions/prints for what goes where and how to mount everything.

Re: Do they make a self advancing distributor?
Thanks for the response guys. I'd also like to know more about the Bosch cent. advance unit. I googled Bubba's a while back as I believe that is the unit Clayton runs on his Roadster. It looks like he has pretty much retired though or at least no longer produces that unit.

Do they make a self advancing distributor?
As the title states, do they make it? Working on a hopped T gowjob and a self advancing and retarding ignition system would be great. I know the E timer does but I like the look of a dizzy in a hopped up T.

Using a single port Chevy head for poor man's ohv?
As the title says. I have found a 23-27 Chevy 171cui whole motor for sale locally. Actually it's almost too nice. Grimy but turns over, has trans with it too only thing that appears to be missing is carb and the pushrods on the side and even they may be around. Price for the whole thing is $250. I c...

Re: More "modern" steering column
Good looking setup. It looks like I'd have to run the roadster with no sides of the hood though. Hmm, hadn't thought about that.

More "modern" steering column
Hey guys. So I've started assembling a 27 roadster gowjob/speedster. The T motor is just about squared away. I'm looking at setting up steering soon. Pop has a couple T columns, but also some A columns. I'm playing with the idea of a 30s Ford steering column to give a less sensitive steering for spe...

The guy who has a block under each arm... That was my late uncle Bucky - Extremely, um, "Heavy set", worked in the auto wrecking industry, he would pick up long blocks and move them around the yard... V8 short blocks , one in each hand. Always knew that if ever got him mad at me, I'd best just shoo...

Re: radiator prices
I'm sorry and not being tongue in cheek!!!! My own experience tells me Gery is the better choice. My words as to that conclusion...let me say it a different way... Next time I need a black radiator, I'm not going to shop it, I'm calling Gery at Bergs...we'll spend 5 minutes on the phone, he'll ship...

Re: I Timer
While I have not run an E or I timer, i have followed many posts including from the creator of them. While the idea of the E or I timer may not flow with more purist guys, I think both seem like phenomenal products. Better timing and ignition that's all around more consistent leading to better engin...

Re: Chaffin's Garage is not closing
This is great news. I am very glad to hear that someone is picking up the job. Chaffin's produces many increasingly hard to find parts such as replacement Ruckstell parts, distributor gears, etc.

It is what it is. I've decided while I'm not giving up looking for him, I have to otherwise move on or let it consume me. Can't dwell on it. I'm happy things seem sorted out and I'm having a blast with my car. I have many, many journeys planned for this year.

1926 Model T Coupe update
Hey guys, Matt here. It has been a long time since I posted on the MTFCA forum. I'm still using the Facebook one regularly but I thought I'd start posting here more often again. Anyway, my 26 coupe! A lot has happened since I last posted here. The car has now been "90%" totally rebuilt mechanically....

Re: Failure
I go to plenty of car shows and while I usually enter, I have no real interest in winning. I go for the fun, the talking and the sharing. While guys with pristine cars polish their rides and sweat with nerves as kids approach, I open up the door of the coupe and let the kids in to have a seat so lon...

Re: Simmons Super Power Carburetor
They're a great little carb. In many ways an improved NH straight through. The flapper helps with idle, but also will automatically enrichen or lean your mixture as you drive and suction changes. I have one I bought for 10 dollars at a swap meet and clean up.myself. tested it on my coupe. It has def...

Re: Giant Head arrived!
Chris, was that cr for a giant or giant super? I believe the giant super was a little higher in cr. It has a minor crack in the water outlet jacket area. A good media blast, pin and stitch the jacket crack, and it should be good to go. I'm not sure on the color, in m trying to decide myself. Spark p...
